Pros

  • Very well-known gym in Dallas
  • Solid community support
  • Abundance of modern equipment
  • Professional bodybuilding trainers

Cons

  • Airconditioning can be faulty sometimes
  • Goes through issues with memberships
  • Customer service can be lacking sometimes

Destination Dallas is one of the top gyms to go to for any bodybuilding enthusiast of any skill level.

With the amount of attention and support that this place gets, you cannot go wrong by stepping into its highly motivating atmosphere.

No matter what stage you are in your bodybuilding career, you’re going to get ripped here if you are as dedicated as its community.

There is no shortage of equipment to be found in Destination Dallas, so feel free to grab anything off the rack without causing a line to form behind you.

This also means you’re not going to worry too much about your sets getting disrupted by having breaks that are too long in between.

In general, it’s actually quite surprising to see that it’s not exactly as crowded of a place as you would think, considering its popularity.

With that said, customer service can still struggle sometimes, trying to cater to multiple people at once.

We’re quite a bit bummed that it also doesn’t give any sort of free trial for first-timers, but the knowledge and skill level of the trainers more than makeup for that.

There’s a considerable number of them that focuses on bodybuilding, and you can clearly see it in their physique too.

The main issue of the place lies in its membership system. Its management has failed to cancel several people’s memberships on time in the past, so be advised.

Also, the gym seems to have faulty air-conditioning on occasion. This can definitely be a no-no in the Texas heat that we get.

Pros

  • Great for competition training
  • Lots of bodybuilding equipment
  • Offers personal and group training
  • 24/7 access for members

Cons

  • Canceling memberships is tricky
  • Equipment maintenance causes limited capacity
  • Atmosphere is a bit intimidating at times

When you want a gym that can turn you from an average person to a potential Mr. Olympia candidate, then get yourself to the Metroflex Gym in Plano.

Though it can be a bit farther away from the center of Dallas for some people, we think it’s worth the trip nonetheless.

After all, this is one of the few gyms in Dallas that’s really dedicated to all sorts of competitive training, and that includes training for bodybuilding competitions.

You may occasionally feel the atmosphere get a little bit intimidating, but there’s nothing to really scare even beginners away.

Aside from its great one-on-one personal training, you can even choose to train as a group with your buddies and have a little friendly competition.

At a place like this, you can naturally expect it to have several kinds of bodybuilding equipment that hit just about every single muscle fiber in your body.

Most, if not all of the machines and racks look like they’ve just been installed yesterday, but it’s actually also thanks to the great maintenance that its management does.

But equipment maintenance at this place can be a double-edged sword as well since it can limit the number of people that can go in and use its facilities at a time.

Other than that, Metroflex mostly has great availability, especially considering you can get 24/7 access whenever you sign up for membership.

But unfortunately, its membership is also where our main gripe is. It has a tendency to not cancel memberships on time, leaving people with a lot of annoying extra charges.

It really begs the question if the management is doing it on purpose, as it seems to have no trouble with its system when signing up anyone at all.

To be on the safer side, you should probably stick to day passes during its regular hours for now.

Pros

  • Heavy-duty equipment for bodybuilders
  • Highly attentive and professional trainers
  • Excellent recovery services available
  • Offers a free pass for first-timers

Cons

  • Weight room is a bit small
  • Had a history of still charging after cancellation
  • Owners occasionally give off a bad vibe

Hidden Gym, despite what its name suggests, is a significantly popular place that is garnering even more attention from people as we type this out.

We’re not sure why it chose that name, but it’s definitely far from hidden now thanks to a lot of happy customers coming back.

When it comes to dedicated bodybuilding or any kind of weight training, you need to have equipment that can stand the test of time.

We’re glad to see that Hidden Gym has great heavy-duty equipment that can take the brunt of even the biggest of dudes slamming them down (though we don’t recommend doing that).

You also get some of the best trainers around guiding you every step of the way with proper form and execution.

Just make sure to communicate your goals clearly, as the trainers don’t exclusively just focus on bodybuilding alone.

One great perk of this place is that it also has excellent recovery services available, which include things like chiropractors and ozone therapy.

We think this is a great utilization of modern technology and techniques. Without a doubt, this can reduce your downtime and increase your muscular performance in the gym.

First-timers will also be happy to hear that Hidden Gym offers a nice free pass that can generously kickstart your bodybuilding journey.

As for the downsides of the gym, the noticeably small area of the weight room does mean that you may have to wait your turn on a relatively busy day.

Although its turf area is a really nice feature of the place, it significantly dwarfs the other areas around it that are more dedicated to weightlifting.

This place also had a history of still charging some members’ accounts even after cancellation, but we gladly don’t hear about that anymore recently.

You may also find that the owners occasionally give off a bad vibe for whatever reason. It’s not the most ideal treatment, but it’s still tolerable for the most part.

Pros

  • No-frills bodybuilding atmosphere
  • Recently upgraded dumbbells and plates
  • Cheapest membership fee around
  • Owner is accommodating and knowledgeable

Cons

  • A busier gym on average
  • Most equipment is old
  • No dedicated training services

Amid all the modern bodybuilding gyms of today, Texas Gym is for those people that crave a more raw and “classic” experience.

Its no-frills bodybuilding atmosphere gives you the sign that you’re here to get things done with absolutely no excuses.

It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but this place is as barebones as you’re going to get without necessarily sacrificing the overall experience of building proper muscle.

With that said, the place seems to be geared more towards people who have been into bodybuilding for a while.

Sure, beginners are still obviously welcome at this place, but we honestly don’t think it would be the most optimal gym for them.

One reason is that it doesn’t exactly have dedicated training services that would guide you in every single session.

Though its owner is very accommodating and knowledgeable, the most that you’re going to get is him sometimes going around and assisting people with their forms.

It’s not exactly the most formal training experience you can get at a gym.

In spite of that, you do still get a fair amount of decent equipment that has actually been hand-made by former Olympians, which is pretty cool to think about.

Most of the equipment may be old, but it’s good to see that the owner has recently upgraded the dumbbells and plates.

One of the main takeaways of this place is that it has one of the cheapest membership fees of any gym that we’ve ever heard of.

At only 20 bucks for a whole year, it might as well just let anyone walk in for free. You simply cannot beat that value.

Just keep in mind that a lot of people have also realized that, so this is a pretty busy gym on average.

5. Precision Fitness

Pros

  • One of the best collections of gym equipment
  • Nice and spacious facilities
  • Very experienced trainers
  • Current customer service is very accommodating

Cons

  • Some staff members are occasionally rude
  • Music played is sometimes too loud
  • Lacks a bit of membership transparency

If you want to make the best out of your bodybuilding experience, then it’s quite hard to beat a gym like Precision Fitness in terms of its overall package.

To start, it has state-of-the-art facilities that really get your blood pumping just by staring at them.

There is an impressive amount of modern equipment to take advantage of at this place, so there’s really no need to wait around for other people to finish.

Even with all of the machines and racks around, Precision Fitness is nice and spacious all throughout its amenities.

We think this is great, as you don’t need to worry about accidentally swinging your dumbbell right into the chin of the person next to you (be careful with your reverse dumbbell flys).

The trainers also have a lot of experience with building muscle in general, and they definitely possess the body and form to show for it.

Even within bodybuilding itself, there can be several ways to achieve the same end goal depending on the person’s body.

Precision’s trainers always take this into consideration, as they are very flexible when it comes to their client’s preferences.

Bear in mind that you may run into some rude staff members on occasion.

Also, we wished that they turned down the gym’s speaker system a bit since it’s pretty distracting when the music is way too loud.

But other than that, we’ve found that its current customer service is very accommodating even with complaints.

Speaking of complaints, a common one that this place tends to receive is its lack of transparency with its membership program.

There’s a lot of confusion going on about its month-to-month membership, and why submitting a certified letter just to cancel it is even required.

We think the business’s recent change in ownership might have something to do with it, as the gym does have a lot more confusing policies placed than before.
