- Teaches a good mix of local and international dishes
- Has high-quality cookware and appliances for students to use
- Very good in teaching cooking tips to teens
- Assists students carefully in class preparation
Cons
- Some instructors have been insensitive toward students in the past
- Sometimes doesn’t prepare ingredients right away
Sur La Table is one of your best bets when it comes to an upscale cooking experience in the Dallas area. With a good mix of both local and international dishes to learn, we think you’ll definitely not run out of recipes any time soon.
Even talking about local dishes alone, you’ll already have an idea of just how much there is to learn from a place like Sur La Table.
It’s a great way to not only upscale your cooking skills, but to level up your taste buds from what it has already tasted.
Beginners don’t need to worry that much, as its hands-on experience combined with the great assistance provided by its staff ensures you make the most out of your class.
We quite like its high-quality cookware and appliances, and the fact that anyone can learn how to use them with the help of its team.
It makes sense since Sur La Table also doubles as a kitchen supply store with all the cookware and bakeware that you’ll ever need.
We think this can complement your overall cooking experience, as you can consider buying the same kind of equipment you’ve used in your class for use at home.
Its instructors are also notably great with teens, so this can be a great bonding opportunity with your family. We like how they adjust accordingly to any student they teach, and even assist them carefully before the class starts.
We’d like to note that not every instructor was always this friendly, though. Some of them liked to give sarcastic remarks that made students uncomfortable.
Some of them were also quite slow to prepare ingredients, which basically just caused delays for the entirety of the class.

If you like learning in a lively environment guided by one of the best professional chefs around, then we think Tre Cooking Concepts is definitely worth visiting.
Owned by award-winning celebrity chef Tre Wilcox, you’ll be in for an extraordinary cooking experience that’s hard to get anywhere else in Dallas.
With years and years of dedication to the culinary arts, Tre and his team work superbly with students of all levels.
So whether you’re an absolute beginner or just looking to add some spice to your usual cooking, they’re always ready to help you achieve your culinary goals.
We quite love the amount of passion that Tre has for both cooking and teaching, and this seems to rub off on everyone he works with.
He’s one of the best motivators in the culinary industry, in our opinion. It’s definitely evident in every one of his classes that’s loved by many.
It’s quite a transformative experience, in a sense. You’ll be learning pretty unique and valuable cooking techniques that only chefs of Tre’s caliber can teach.
To add to his usual cooking classes, you can even test your skills against your friends with an exciting team-building cook-off.
It definitely sounds like a fun and unique activity worth trying, and Tre and his team do an excellent job of hosting it as well.
As for things they can improve on, we think it would be nice if they’re more transparent about what students will actually be cooking from the get-go.
This is so people have a better idea of what to expect before the day of the actual class.
Also, it would be nice if they made the aprons free too. It’s a little bit unusual for us that they present such a great package of ingredients, recipes, and tools but decide to sell the aprons separately.

Pros
- Teaches a ton of creative chocolate-themed desserts
- Provides very educational and enjoyable classes
- Great experience for birthday celebrations
- Well-prepared and explains cooking plans crystal clear
Cons
- Not the best choice for those looking for more cooking variety
For anyone that has a sweet tooth, Dallas Chocolate Classes gives you an opportunity to satisfy your cravings with your own hands.
Although this is a very specific kind of cooking class, you’ll be surprised to find out just how much you can do with chocolate.
With a ton of creative chocolate-themed desserts to learn, we think you’ll be like a kid in a candy store (or a chocolate store).
Chocolatier and pastry chef Zach Townsend leads the classes, and we think his chocolate expertise is simply something else.
Having over 20 years of chocolate baking experience, he and his team are all prepared to show you just how versatile such a sweet treat can be.
Apart from being very educational, they all make their chocolate classes a very enjoyable learning environment to be in.
When somebody’s both a great chef and a great teacher, it’s a combination that’s very hard to beat. This is why we think his chocolate classes are also a solid way to celebrate birthdays or other events.
What’s also nice about chef Zach’s classes is that you can also virtually have them in the safety and comfort of your own home.
Regardless if you’re learning virtually or in person, Zach and his team are always well-prepared and explains all the cooking plans crystal clear.
Of course, the main downside of Dallas Chocolate Classes is it’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea (or cocoa). Since you’re only working with chocolate, you’re obviously going to be learning the dessert part of a 3-course meal only.
