Pros

  • Veterans discount
  • High-quality products
  • Expert and concise technicians

Cons

  • Lots of upsells
  • Services take a long time to finish

If you’re looking for reliable products and services, Take 5 Oil Change is a great station to consider. They’ve been in business for over five years and have more than 500 locations nationwide – 20 of which are located in Dallas.

We appreciate how detailed their technicians get when discussing their product and service options. This helps customers understand their options better, especially if it’s their first time getting their oil changed.

Their stations are huge and can fit several cars at a time. However, despite their spacious set up, they do tend to be overcrowded during particularly busy seasons.

So, if you wish to get their services, we highly suggest you call ahead and set an appointment. That way the company knows to expect you and will reserve you a slot in the books.

We found the prices to be appropriate for the quality of the services they provide. Plus, they only use reliable oil and filter brands for their customers.

Nevertheless, some people may still think that it lies slightly on the expensive side of things. To help you form your own conclusion, you should call ahead and ask for a quote for services.

As mentioned earlier, their technicians are very detailed when it comes to their product and service listings. So, be prepared for a ton of upsells during your time with them.

It’s one of the very few flaws they have.

Pros

  • Product and service variety
  • 10+ years in business
  • Quick and informative staff

Cons

  • Inconsistent price quotes

Product and service variety are definitely Kwik Kar Lube & Tune’s two biggest selling points. People from all around Dallas visit their locations to get their oil changed and their regular auto maintenance completed.

The company has been around for over 10 years, so we understand why so many people trust and rely on their services.

Their prices are appropriate for the quality of the products and services they provide. Furthermore, they frequently run promos and discounts for customers to take advantage of – so you can save a lot by timing your oil checks right.

We learned that their on-site staff are all incredibly friendly and well-informed. They walked us through their services and products listing, and were careful not to leave a single detail out of their explanations.

It helped us identify what services we needed for our specific situation, saving us from having to do the research alone. Our experience would have been perfect had it not been for their inconsistent phone and on-site quotes.

Before our visit, we’d called to inquire how much an oil check would cost. The staff on the phone gave us a price below $20 prior to our inspection.

We were surprised to learn that the check cost nearly $30 after the tests had already been done.

It would do the company good to improve their quote consistency and to re-brief their employees once every season, to keep everyone updated.

Pros

  • 10+ years in business
  • Budget-friendly
  • Quick services

Cons

  • Inconsistent customer service quality

10 Minute Oil Change is popular for their speedy services that only take – yup, you guessed it – 10 minutes! You pull in, leave your car with the mechanic, and have everything done before the long hand even finishes its tenth cycle.

Now, we know what you’re thinking:

This seems like an over-exaggeration.

It sounded a little far-fetched when we first heard it from one of their previous clients. But after going in for an oil change and inspection, we have to say, it was one of if not the quickest oil change we’ve had in our life.

They talked to us about our options, let us know what the technician was going to do, and assured us that there was nothing to be worried about. Their mechanics were trained to provide the highest quality services, so we trust that they couldn’t possibly do anything wrong – and they didn’t!

We were very happy with the results of our visit. However, previous clients have pointed out during our surveys that the store manager is not the most agreeable person.

He has a habit of being sarcastic toward customers that he doesn’t like. For us, this isn’t the greatest indicator of a customer-centered provider.

Furthermore, we’ve received reports of inconsistencies in the quality of their technicians’ work. Apparently, it all depends on who you work with as well as their mood while they work on your car.

In our opinion, the company should get better management and improve staff quality for better customer satisfaction ratings.

Pros

  • 35+ years in business
  • Great location
  • Straightforward listing and pricing

Cons

  • Very few product varieties
  • Some technicians rip you off
  • Has customer preference

With over 35 years of experience in the field, we had high expectations about the quality of the services we’d receive from this next provider. Most of our assumptions were met head-on:

For example, we believed they would offer fast and efficient oil changes and they did. Their mechanics had us in and out of the garage in under 20 minutes.

Everyone was quite friendly and interactive. We also loved that they took their time talking to us about the options and solutions that would benefit our vehicle the most.

Their prices were relatively appropriate for the services and products they offered. However, we do wish they had more brands available.

Unfortunately, they were only limited to a few – some of which were names that we couldn’t even recognize. But if you’re looking for a cheap synthetic oil change, this is definitely the place to go.

We love the station location, which shows you a beautiful angle of the Dallas skyline. However, we think they can do something with their storefront—perhaps give it a new coat of paint to make it more welcoming.

Although our experience was generally good, some of their previous clients have expressed dissatisfaction with the way they handle transactions.

One client told us that the store had them wait for over an hour in the garage while technicians serviced a client that came in 30 minutes after they did. Later, they found out that this client was a regular customer of the station, which is why the technicians gave him priority.

While we appreciate how they focus on customer loyalty, we also believe the company should treat new clients with as much consideration.

Pros

  • 27+ years in business
  • Product and service variety
  • A+ rating from the BBB
  • 36-month warranty
  • Customer rewards program

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Inconsistent quotes

We haven’t seen an oil change station quite as impressive as City Garage Auto Repair & Oil Change. They’re basically a one-stop shop for everything auto-related.

You can get your oil changed, engine repaired, batteries replaced, and so much more in this one little store. Plus, they have some of the friendliest employees we’ve encountered so far.

They talk you through their different product and service listings. We highly encourage you to pay attention because they have A LOT to teach.

Having one of the largest product inventories we’ve seen so far, they naturally do a lot of upsells with their customers. For us, this was a very small inconvenience – we wanted to know what they have to offer anyway.

However, based on our surveys some customers don’t appreciate this kind of marketing. So, if you’re one of those people who prefer straightforward services, you may want to try a different provider.

Prices are much more expensive compared to other stations mentioned on this list. Nonetheless, we believe you can get the best bang for your buck considering how City Garage Auto Repair & Oil Change offers both warranty coverage and a rewards program for customers.

Through both these programs, you can get free services, discounts, and so much more. You can learn more about them by contacting the station via their landline or contact form.
