Top 5 Best Dermatologists in Dallas_1

Top 5 Best Dermatologists in Dallas

Criteria and Considerations

Credentials – We looked for board-certified and licensed dermatologists capable of conducting a wide range of procedures and techniques.
Experience – We evaluated each dermatologist’s skills and experience in the following fields: medical, surgical, and cosmetic. This is to test how well-versed they are in different dermatological procedures.
Costs – Dermatology and cosmetic services don’t come cheap; which is why we included providers that offer competitive rates to their clients.
Insurance Coverage – Insurance companies can take the brunt of the costs for medical visits and procedures. We assessed the providers for what insurance policies they accept e.g., Galaxy Healthcare PPO, HealthSmart PPO, or United Healthcare/Pacificare.
Comfort – The clinic must put customer comfort first and foremost This may be by providing customers with a choice of male/female specialists, private consultation rooms, clean waiting areas, sanitary restrooms, etc.

Pros

  • Accepts most major insurance policies
  • Budget-friendly checkups
  • Attentive and informative

Cons

  • No choice of specialist
  • Focuses on cosmetic dermatology more

Adean Kingston MD PLLC specializes in both medical and cosmetic dermatology. They have over a dozen treatments and procedures – plus, more than 15 years of industry experience under their built.

We appreciate how welcoming they were during our visit to their clinic, despite our not having made an appointment ahead of schedule. It pleased us to see how good-humored their staff were.

Furthermore, we were impressed by the organization and cleanliness that their clinic displayed.

The furniture was comfortable and looked like they’d come out of a magazine catalog. Although, we do think they could have dialed down a little with all the pink.

Regardless, we’re not here to talk about their interior design.

Apart from the apparent orderliness of the clinic, we appreciated the service that we received from the doctor.

She attentively listened to all of our questions and stories. Plus, her answers were also quite informative and useful.

The consultation fee was affordable enough and, luckily, our insurance provider worked with them. However, we should warn you that some services and treatments could easily cost you thousands of dollars.

Insurance companies that Adean has confirmed to work with are Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, United, and Humana.

Although they claim to specialize in both medical and cosmetic dermatology, we noticed that they’re keener on cosmetic issues. Thus, we don’t recommend them for medical visits e.g., cancer screenings, medical surgery, etc.

They only have one specialist in the house: Adean Kingston, MD. Thus, if you want to have choices in the specialists that handle your case, this might not be the best place for you.

Pros

  • Large assortment of specialists
  • Wide selection of insurance partners
  • Waiting room entertainment

Cons

  • Rude customer support staff
  • Expensive without insurance

The U.S. Dermatology Partners has over 90 locations nationwide, making them one of the most accessible providers in the country.

They have specialists from different types of backgrounds and ethnicities – which is why we recommend them for clients who seek more variety in their providers.

What we liked most about this provider is the assortment of insurance policies that they accept. This makes their services much more accessible and affordable to their clients.

If you’re strapped for cash but need emergency mole removal, you can go to this clinic and get the procedure done at an incredibly low price with insurance.

Our visit to their facility was pleasant enough. Their waiting room, consultation room, and restrooms were clean.

There was also an assortment of entertainment available for clients in the waiting room e.g., crosswords, magazines, and a TV.

The doctor that took care of us was very kind and offered plenty of insight into skin conditions and their appropriate treatments. They also gave us a few tips to improve our skin health and appearance.

However, we weren’t entirely satisfied with the way their receptionist treated us.

They seemed annoyed by our questions and even ignored a few of our inquiries. He also refused to look at us while receiving forms that we had to fill out at the front desk.

We highly recommend that you take their customer support services with a grain of salt. That way, you don’t end up spoiling your session.

Pros

  • Accepts most major insurance plans
  • Quick and easy booking process
  • Specialized medical and surgical dermatology services

Cons

  • Cramped waiting area
  • Doesn’t contact insurance providers on behalf of patients

If you’re looking for a clinic that specializes in medical and surgical dermatology, Lakewood Dermatology is a great place to consider.

They can perform procedures like skin cancer screenings and excision of benign skin growths. Almost everything you need from a medical dermatology clinic, you can find here.

Keep in mind that it’s an owner-operated business. Thus, the only specialist available to take cases is the owner.

Therefore, if you’re looking for variety, we suggest you look for a different clinic, like the clinic we mentioned before.

The Lakewood clinic is slightly smaller than the previous ones we’ve mentioned. Their waiting room was also cramped during our visit, with only five chairs available for patients to sit in.

Thankfully, we’d made an appointment ahead of time. So, we didn’t need to wait too long to get entertained.

The staff at the clinic were very helpful and tried their best to answer our questions about certain procedures. However, it was obvious that not all of them knew what went down during certain treatments.

We appreciated how attentive the doctor was during our session. He was also very thorough with his tests and evaluation.

We can confidently say that you can get good dermatologic services from this clinic.

Just make sure to contact your insurance provider ahead of your visit.

Lakewood Dermatology makes its clients contact their insurance providers to get approved for visitations. We didn’t experience this with any of the other providers on this list, which is why we found it incredibly inconvenient and disappointing.

On the bright side, they do accept a wide variety of insurance policies.

This includes policies from Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Cigna, Coventry Health Care, and more.

Pros

  • Large facility
  • More service variety
  • Skincare store in the waiting room

Cons

  • No privacy during treatments

Westlake has one of the biggest facilities out of all the providers we’ve previously mentioned. They have an entire building dedicated to their services, which is why it’s no wonder they can offer so many.

Their waiting room is a cross between a skincare store and a living room. It offers great entertainment for clients while they wait for their turn with the doctors.

This clinic accepts both commercial and Medicare plans, which we find incredibly helpful. Especially for patients with very limited resources to tap into for care.

If you’re currently under Medicare and require medical dermatology services, this clinic is the best choice for you.

They have both male and female staff on-call. So, if you’re more comfortable with meeting with the same or opposite sex, you have the freedom of choice in this clinic.

While Westlake Dermatology is truly an exceptional choice, we noticed a few discrepancies in our surveys that we found worth mentioning.

For instance, there seems to be an apparent lack of privacy in this clinic, according to our data.

We’ve received several complaints from clients saying they felt uncomfortable being paraded around between treatment rooms in a surgical gown.

Others also complain about constant interruptions from staff who randomly pop into rooms without prior notice.

Pros

  • Accepts a variety of insurances
  • Helpful and kind staff
  • Affordable services

Cons

  • Outdated equipment
  • High-volume callers
  • Small consultation rooms

The Dermatology Center of Dallas looks like the typical clinic you’d see in most neighborhoods. Their facilities didn’t have the same appeal as the other providers we mentioned.

Furthermore, we found that several of their equipment in the waiting room and restroom was out of date.

Luckily, this wasn’t the same for their consultation rooms.

We found all the latest tools for different dermatological procedures. However, they looked a little unorganized due to how small the consultation rooms were.

The staff was incredibly helpful in booking our sessions. Although, we did have a hard time getting through their landline.

Their high volume of callers wasn’t a problem for us as we saw this as a sign of their reliability as a service provider.

The doctor that handles us was kind and generous with the information he shared with us. We appreciate their effort in explaining what certain medications and procedures were for,

You can choose between male and female doctors, so you may feel more comfortable during sessions. However, make sure to ask them about their specializations ahead of booking because they can be particularly varied.

Costs are slightly the same as with every other provider, with a few exceptions e.g., consultations, surgeries, and complex procedures.

Luckily, they accept insurance policies from providers like Aetna PPO/HMO, BlueCross BlueShield PPO/POS, Cigna PPO, and others.
