Best Assisted Living Facilities in Dallas That You’ll Actually Want to Move Into

  • Quality of Care - We focused on facilities that provide outstanding medical and personal care, ensuring that residents' health and well-being are the top priority.
  • Staff Professionalism - Facilities with professional, friendly, and attentive staff who create a supportive environment for residents were given consideration.
  • Senior-Friendly Amenities - We prioritized facilities that offer amenities specifically designed for seniors who need assistance. Examples include accessible fitness centers, therapeutic pools, spas, and recreational areas.
  • Value for Money - We evaluated the cost of living at each facility in relation to the services and amenities provided, selecting those that offer value for money.

My friend called me in a panic the other day. His mom needed some extra help, and assisted living facilities weren’t exactly his area of expertise.

As for me, I love a good research project. So, I dove headfirst, scouring online reviews, interviewing residents, and looking at online virtual tours and photo galleries.

Fast forward a month, and my friend calls me back, practically glowing. Turns out, his mom was happier than a clam thanks to one of the perfect assisted living spots I recommended.

Inspired by my friend’s newfound peace of mind, I present to you the top-rated assisted living facilities in Dallas.

Here, your days are filled with activities you actually enjoy—from art classes to afternoon socials. And they’ll even add new activities based on resident interest!

We like that they’ll work with you to craft a personal service plan, whether it’s getting your morning paper or that post-dinner glass of wine. Plus, if you need a little help with daily tasks, their care team is there to assist.

Their facility’s thoughtful design prioritizes both comfort and safety, with features like easy-to-navigate carpeting and in-suite emergency call systems.

When it comes to food, their chefs whip up delicious menus with seasonal ingredients, regional specialties, and of course, classic comfort food.

While everything seems to be in order, we did hear isolated reports of bedbugs.

My aunt feels very safe and well taken care of

“My aunt loves living at Sunrise. We moved her there after a very disappointing experience at another facility. We have been nothing but amazed at the quality of care, the loyalty of the staff and the very homey environment. My aunt feels very safe and well taken care of at Sunrise on Hillcrest. I highly recommend them!”

Monticello West boasts over 30 years of experience and a prestigious 2023 Best of Senior Living award. This translates to peace of mind for families.

One of the biggest draws is their all-inclusive pricing. No surprise bills here—it covers assisted living essentials like bathing, dressing, meals, and medication reminders.

They offer assisted living with help for daily activities, medication management, and even transportation for appointments. If you need a higher level of care, they have “enhanced assisted living” that includes things like diabetic management.

Activities are a big focus here—from music classes to exercise programs, there’s something for everyone to keep engaged.

We also like that there’s a dedicated care team on-site 24/7 and an emergency pull cord system in resident apartments.

Now, the downside—there have been reports of items going missing from rooms. It’s definitely worth inquiring about their security measures during your visit.

  • Over 30 years of experience
  • 2023 Best of Senior Living award
  • All-inclusive pricing
  • Offers assisted and enhanced assisted living

Has been a perfect assisted living facility for my aunt

“Monticello West has been a perfect assisted living facility for my Aunt. Two months after moving my Aunt into Monticello West, the Covid-19 pandemic hit the world. The director and staff have done an extraordinary job of keeping my Aunt safe and cared for. While I personally haven’t been able to visit my Aunt in person during this time, I hear in her voice that she is happy and feels well taken care of. I thank Monticello West for their dedication to the well-being of the residents that have chosen to live there.”

Nan was so helpful and not only gave us a wonderful tour and answered our many questions but hosted us at lunch (which was delicious)! We were very impressed with this community and all it has to offer. If you or a loved one are in need of a new lifestyle – you should visit Monticello West!”

The Tradition was founded by someone who saw a need for something more than just your average facility. They offer a range of care options—independent living, assisted living, and memory care—across multiple locations in Texas.

First things first, this place looks swanky. We love its landscaped grounds, courtyards with water features, and restaurant-style dining with multiple venues (including a private room for family gatherings).

Additionally, they have an arts and crafts studio, a computer area, and a diverse activity calendar. They even have fitness programs and a physical therapy center (with an underwater treadmill, no less!).

They cover all the essential assisted living needs too, including housekeeping, bathing and dressing assistance, and incontinence care. And there’s 24/7 licensed nursing and medication management.

While The Tradition seems to have a lot to offer, it’s worth noting that their services are a bit limited compared to other places.

    Pros

    • Landscaped grounds and courtyards with water features
    • Has an art studio, computer area, and physical therapy center
    • Offers fitness programs
    • Housekeeping, bathing, and dressing assistance
    • Incontinence care
    • 24/7 licensed nursing and medication management

    Cons

    • Comparatively limited range of services

      We absolutely love the Tradition

“How do you say perfection with a star!! We absolutely love the Tradition, the staff and the Executive Director, Carmen Franks who gets things done, interacts with the residents , knows their names and is very visible. We love the variety of entertainment the social team provides, the food is outstanding and the residents are like family. We have Bridge, contract and duplicate, 2 happy hours a week where beer and wine are furnished, a 35 voice choir with room to grow, a weight and exercise room, personalized Pilates, a movie theatre and a large heated pool with daily waterarobic classes. Juniper Village at Preston Hollow has a goal—keeping you active and engaged.

Whether you crave dance classes or movie nights, they offer a variety of social and intellectual activities to keep your mind and body sharp.

The living arrangements are comfortable, with 78 spacious assisted living suites, each with a private bathroom. It’s perfect for those who want some support with daily tasks (meals, housekeeping, transportation) but still cherish their independence.

We’re impressed with their innovative CONNECT4LIFE program. Imagine having access to primary care physicians, physical therapists, wellness consultations, and even lab services—all under one roof!

Therapy needs are covered through partnerships with Powerback Rehabilitation. And tech lovers will appreciate cool stuff like voice-activated assistants and robotic helpers, all aimed at improving residents’ lives.

While Juniper Village sounds impressive, there have been isolated reports of lapses in medication management.

“My parents are comfortable and well taken care of at the Juniper. The caregivers are genuinely compassionate and attentive. I am glad they are there. It takes special people to do this work. We are grateful. They do their best.”

Juniper Village has turned my dad’s life around!

“Juniper Village at Preston Hollow has turned my dad’s life around! He has been there 3-months, after living 5-years independently after my mom passed. He was stubborn and wanted to stay at his house. I finally convinced him to come to Juniper Village. The caring staff and socialization with staff and other residents has really cheered him up. At age 87, he now wants to live to be 100. The staff is really great with all the residents. There are around 30 residents, and all the staff members know each by name. The food is good too. The rooms are clean and well kept. The price is a good value. I am very happy to see dad happy again!”

Sage Oak positions itself as a warm, family-owned alternative to large, impersonal assisted living facilities. Their focus is on feeling like you’re still at home, with locations nestled in residential neighborhoods and private, beautifully decorated rooms.

They cater to both assisted living and memory care needs, with just 8 residents per location, ensuring a high staff-to-resident ratio for personalized attention.

Residents get the full package: daily meals and snacks, help with daily tasks like bathing and dressing, and even medication management with a nurse on staff.

Those with dementia are also cared for by specially trained staff. Plus, there’s 24/7 security and daily activities to keep residents engaged.

Here’s the thing—we heard reports of disgruntled employees. Disgruntled employees can lead to higher turnover, which might impact the quality of care.

        Pros

        • Only 8 residents per location
        • Daily meals and snacks
        • Help with daily tasks
        • Medication management
        • 24/7 security and daily activities

        Cons

        • Reports of disgruntled employees

Sage Oak has taken great care of my fully disabled mother

“Sage Oak has taken great care of my fully disabled mother. The ratio of staff to patients and homestyle accommodations allow for more time from staff to devote to residents. Staff is professional and are true caregivers at heart. My brother and I live out of state but receive frequent updates including photos. Highly recommend!”

My mother is currently at Sage Oak and loves it

“My mother is currently at Sage Oak and loves it. It’s a warm, nurturing home rather than a facility. I live in another state, but mom raves about the staff treating her like family, especially the house manager Alicia and the nursing director Juanita.”
