Pros
- Does very efficient car inspections in usually 15 minutes or less
- Its oil changing service is a great complement to passing emissions when necessary
- Doesn’t push customers to avail of other related services to pass inspections
- Also thoroughly guides customers about the car registration process
Cons
- Has a tendency to not follow its operating hours properly
- Had a history of rude managers and staff members
- Only does annual state inspections
As one of the most popular official vehicle inspection stations in Dallas, Quix State Inspection has all the experience and tools needed to make your car road-worthy.
We think if anyone likes quick turnarounds when getting your vehicle inspected, you can’t really go wrong with Quix. It’s in its name, after all.
But regardless of the name, we found that its mechanics can easily live up to the standard that Quix has set for itself. Like with most car inspection stations, you don’t really need to set an appointment schedule with its office.
It can certainly speed up the entire process that way, and you don’t need to worry about adding another specific date and time to your calendar. You can simply walk into Quix’s station without prior notice and talk to its team of professionals.
Speaking of Quix’s professionals, they seem to be very efficient in the inspection process, allowing them to finish in just 15 minutes or less.
In our opinion, this is already a very quick turnaround time if everything in your car is in working order. If some minor issues come detected, they actually have some services that ensure the vehicle passes the inspection.
Quix’s oil changes are one of its most popular services. Albeit a simple and common procedure, it’s one that may easily be overlooked especially when people buy used cars.
Whatever car it is, Quix’s team seems to have no problem inspecting it for roadworthiness.
Some things to look out for would be Quix’s tendency to not stick to its operating hours and its history of rude managers and staff members.
Also, since it does only provide annual state inspections, it’s not going to inspect your car for any reason other than making sure it’s legal to drive for a year.
2. Pit Pros Automotive

Score Consistency | 4.5/5 |
Professional Credibility | 5/5 |
Task Efficiency | 4.5/5 |
Customer Service | 4.5/5 |
Availability | 5/5 |
Pros
- Highly experienced in making sure each vehicle is fit to pass inspection
- Provides very quick turnaround times for its car inspection service
- Has a lot of other maintenance services that can be beneficial for inspections
- Has very accommodating employees that make you feel at home
Cons
- Service and part prices have considerably gone up throughout the years
- Sometimes inconsistent in double-checking if parts are properly installed
Pit Pros Automotive is very much at the heart of the automotive maintenance industry, which includes making sure your car gets a pass during the inspection.
Reliability and longevity seem to be key factors that drive Pit Pros to meticulously scan every car from bumper to bumper.
This is another way to imply that Pit Pros’ team is highly experienced in making sure that each vehicle is perfectly safe to drive under normal circumstances.
We quite like their attention to detail, because of this. One slight mistake or lapse of judgment could potentially be a hazard to both the owner of the car and other motorists, after all.
This is why inspection stations such as Pit Pros have quite an important task at hand when it comes to maintaining the overall safety of automobiles.
It’s not simply there to inspect but to also use its automotive maintenance expertise in making sure that both the owner and the DMV are happy about the state of the car.
But even though its mechanics are meticulous and efficient at inspections and simple repairs, we’ve found that they’re sometimes inconsistent with proper part installations.
Whether it’s about faulty coil plugs or ACs that it failed to fix, it certainly has its own share of bad work days that you should be aware of. Not to mention that its service and part prices have been steadily on the rise throughout the years.
We personally think that Quix’s team might not be the most ideal team of general mechanics. But nevertheless, you should be good to go with them when it comes to more simple checkups that strictly fall within the vehicle inspection checklist.

Pros
- Thoroughly follows its inspection checklist for all sorts of vehicles
- Very observant that leads to a quicker diagnosis of car issues
- Transparent about what exactly needs to be replaced to pass inspection
- Has a very friendly team that gives competitive price quotes
Cons
- Sometimes falls behind its usual working schedule due to negligence
Snappee Auto Care is a notable service center that happens to also provide very good value for its vehicle inspection service.
With versatile auto repair shops like Snappee around, good vehicle inspection stations that are officially certified by the state of Texas are becoming easier to find.
When it comes to state inspections, shops like Snappee are lifesavers to the whole tedious process of getting your car registered without much problem.
This is because the company pays very close attention to its standardized inspection checklist, as all shops that double as inspection stations should be doing.
Because of this great attention to detail, Snappee is able to diagnose car issues in an accurate and timely manner. By the looks of it, it seems very versatile in working with all sorts of car and truck models.
So whether you have a Shelby Cobra or a Silverado, don’t be shy to bring out your pride and joy for an inspection.
We also like how it’s very transparent about the nature of such issues and what parts are absolutely necessary to replace to pass the inspection.
This means that you don’t need to worry about its team trying to persuade you into buying parts or availing of services that don’t really matter.
Overall, they’re a friendly bunch of people to work with. They’re also gladly not the type to overcharge or manipulate the rates to their liking.
What we would like them to improve on, though, is to make sure that they stick to their working schedule more. They seem to have a habit of making customers come to their shop even though they’re in the middle of their lunch break.

Professional Credibility | 5/5 |
Task Efficiency | 4.5/5 |

Pros
- Quite adept at balancing both its car inspection and auto repair services
- Very timely in getting inspections done even if extra steps are needed
- Upfront about its costs without trying to persuade customers
- Still open for business up until 8 PM on Fridays
Cons
- Seemingly limited to fixing only minor issues that relate to passing inspections
- Sometimes fails to consistently follow its business hours
GBG Auto Repair and Inspection is a considerably well-known shop in Dallas that also excels in providing car inspections appreciated by many.
For GBG, the words “auto repair” and “inspection” go quite well together in how it has been running its business for years.
Despite the overall increase in fuel prices nowadays, the modern-day automobile is still a necessity that needs the services of shops such as GBG to keep it running well.
Even with Teslas, they all need to go through virtually the same process of getting maintained and passing the inspection (minus the usual issues associated with a combustion engine).
Though we haven’t heard of any electric cars getting serviced at GBG recently, it still has an extensive list of services that cater to your average gasoline or diesel vehicle.
From what we’ve heard, though, the services that go hand-in-hand with passing the inspection seem to be more of what GBG excels at. This means that it’s seemingly limited to fixing only minor issues instead of the typical automotive mechanic or engineer’s line of work.
In spite of that, GBG still does significantly well in performing auto repairs connected to the car inspection itself, which is applaudable. It also does such repairs rather timely, which already adds up to its generally quick car inspection service.
We’re also quite fond of how upfront it is about its costs without being pushy towards customers.
Although it’s great that GBG is open until 8 PM on Fridays, we can’t help but notice how it sometimes doesn’t follow its business hours consistently enough. People sometimes turn up to an empty shop with nobody in sight even if it’s way past GBG’s opening time.
5. No Pass No Pay Car Inspections
Overview of Services: Annual Vehicle State Inspections for Motorcycles, Trailers, Motor Homes, Diesel Vehicles, and Vehicles from 1995 and Older; OBD Inspection for 1996 and Newer Vehicles, Vehicle Inspection/Check Engine Light Advice.

Google Reviews Score | 5/5 (81 reviews) |
Nicelocal Reviews Score | 4.9/5 (48 reviews) |
Total Reviews | 4/5 (129 reviews) |
Score Consistency | 5/5 |
Professional Credibility | 5/5 |
Task Efficiency | 5/5 |
Customer Service | 5/5 |
Availability | 4/5 |
Pros
- Very elaborate about its fees and what to do before getting an inspection
- Well-prepared to give advice in case a vehicle fails to pass inspection
- Has professional technicians that demonstrate efficient work ethics
- Also accepts credit and debit cards as modes of payment
Cons
- Cars with more major issues may need to be brought to actual repair shops
If you’re ever in search of an official vehicle inspection station that’s just all about business, consider pulling up to No Pass No Pay.
As a good car inspection station should, No Pass No Pay seems to be one of those places that don’t like beating around the bush as much as the customers do.
We think this is certainly a good sign that you’re in for some kind of VIP-level treatment when you avail of its services. So with that, you can expect to pull up to its location and its team will gladly accommodate you in an efficient manner.
Even on its rather simple website, you’ll find the same kind of straightforwardness in how it lists its prices and even pre-inspection instructions. It’s certainly an elaborate yet quick way of informing people what you do.
However, the bright green background definitely needs to go.
Going back to No Pass No Pay’s team, they’re impressively professional in how efficient their overall work ethic is.
They’re working in a BBB-accredited business, after all. With this, you can expect them to be done with the whole inspection in 10 minutes or less.
One other feature we especially like about No Pass No Pay is that it also accepts credit and debit cards as modes of payment.
If you’re not that familiar with most car inspection stations around Dallas, there’s a considerable number of them that only accepts cash. It’s quite an unusual and sometimes annoying thing that, luckily, No Pass No Pay has managed to resolve.
Due to the nature of its business, cars that have been found to have more major issues would probably be better off being brought to actual repair shops.
No Pass No Pay is more of your traditional state inspection station rather than an automotive repair shop that happens to also do inspections. In these kinds of situations, you’ll essentially be going back and forth between places.
