  • Expertise: We listed instructors with strong professional backgrounds, recognized certifications, and a proven track record of improving golfers’ performance.
  • Reputation: We verified client reviews, testimonials, and overall community reputation to ensure each coach is trusted and highly regarded by golfers in Dallas.

One time, my friends and I decided to try something new and play at one of Dallas’ finest golf courses. Surprisingly, we had a great time, even though we all sucked (I wasn’t the worst, though).

A week later, I was telling the gang about how golf made me fall in love at first play. They laughed when I hired an instructor at first, but that changed when they saw how much I improved after months of training. Some of them even asked for my trainer’s number!

Whether you want to learn like me or are looking for a professional to keep your game in shape, here are the best golf coaches in Dallas.

Lortan Golf was founded by Michael Lortan in 2018, inspired by his wife’s exceptional improvement from his teachings. He’s a USGTF-certified golf teacher, which is great because members of the federation have access to up-to-date training methods.

He teaches golfers of all levels, from newbies to seasoned players, helping them develop their skills through multiple golf lesson formats, including a beginner program, on-course instruction, and two-student sessions.

What we love is that he provides a video analysis to reinforce concepts and track your swing progress over time. This approach removes the guesswork from traditional coaching and leads to more targeted improvements.

However, some students said they had to bring their own left-handed golf clubs because Michael doesn’t have any.

Pros

  • Almost 10 years of experience
  • USGTF-certified golf teacher
  • Teaches golfers of all levels
  • Offers multiple golf lesson formats
  • Provides video analysis

Cons

  • No left-handed golf clubs

He takes time to listen to your goals and discuss them in a relaxed way

“Being coached by Michael has been a pleasure. In addition to being an excellent and very experienced instructor, he is genuinely a friendly man and easy going. He takes time to listen to your goals and discuss them in a relaxed way. He provides feedback and instruction in easy to understand ways. He does not overload you with swing thoughts, but provides a few ideas to keep in mind for each phase of the swing. He is very patient and is creative in trying different techniques to accomplish your goals or correct mistakes. Making appointments with Michael is convenient and efficient. I highly recommend him!! 5 stars!!”

He explains things very well and helped me to understand the game more

“Michael is an excellent instructor. I am very new to golf and Michael is very patient and thorough and put me at ease. He explains things very well and helped me to understand the game more and provides very helpful resources about the game, rules, golf clubs, etc. I took the beginner series and he taught me putting, chipping, and pitching. Very professional and informative. It was a very positive experience and I will definitely be taking more lessons from Lortan Golf. I highly recommend Lortan Golf. Pam A. – beginner”

They specialize in coaching serious golfers who want long-term improvement. Tailoring their business model around this, they offer various membership tiers, from monthly and quarterly to annual subscriptions. Just take note that the club is strictly for members.

On the technology side, we particularly like their AI swing analysis tool. The 30+ actionable data points it gathers after every single swing help you identify where you excel and where you need improvement.

Several students we spoke with also appreciated the club’s unmatched scheduling flexibility, thanks to their 24/7 operation.

The facilities are clean, and the whole environment feels sophisticated

“Scratch Golf Club is perfectly located in Downtown Dallas. 3 extra large hitting bays, all powered by Trackman and multiple cameras to keep track of swing changes. There’s also a nice putting green to work inside the scoring zone. The facilities are clean and the whole environment feels sophisticated. I would highly recommend this place to golfers of all skill levels!”

I’ve never had any trouble booking a bay, and every member has been top class

“Scratch golf club is elite. I’ve been a member since they opened and Tommy truly made something special here. I’ve never had any trouble booking a bay and every member I’ve encountered has been top class. The trackman sims work great and there are plenty of courses and games to try out making each visit unique. Tommy has setup some great perks like custom lessons, closest to the pin challenges, and discounts at the neighboring businesses. I live about 10 minutes away and have always found a solid (free) parking spot when I visit. Definitely recommend signing up.”

Every lesson is fun, but you still walk out improved

“Definitely can’t recommend Nathan enough. I’ve taken a number of golf lessons before, but Nathan’s style keeps me coming back to improve my game. He doesn’t try and force you into one swing type, but shows you what’s causing your miss and how to correct it. Nathan is patient and positive in teaching — every lesson is fun but you still walk out improved. If you’re looking to improve and build confidence in your golf game, definitely book this lesson.”

Never asks you to do or try anything without explaining why

“I have been working with Nathan for about three years. He has helped my game in all areas. Full swing, short game and mental approach. He is a great communicator. Never asks you to do or try anything without explaining why and how it might help your game. I have taken lessons, observed other teachers and read just about everything there is to read on golf, and I highly recommend Nathan as an instructor no matter what your skill level. I feel certain he will help your game if you listen and put in the work.”

Got a series of lessons with Robert to prepare for some upcoming tournaments and I’m so pleased with the progress we’ve made. I will continue to lean on him for instruction.”
