Pros

  • Adept in a variety of tattoo concepts
  • Very detailed in every color shade
  • Carefully explains tattoo aftercare
  • Offers several great gift cards

Cons

  • Some staff members are not that welcoming
  • Tattoo pens occasionally stop working
  • Significantly busy tattoo shop

Lilac Tattoo Studio is well-versed in a lot of creative tattoo ideas that’ll surely make you consider getting inked at its shop.

The place was founded by a woman and is also run by a team of women. And every single one of them is very skilled in their own creative style.

We would like to clarify that not all of them are tattoo artists, as some of them actually do the shop’s piercing services.

With that said, we’ve found that Lilac’s tattoo artists are generally adept in a wide variety of tattoo concepts.

If you have a specific idea in mind, then they can easily make that happen as long as clear communication is maintained.

Black and gray tattoos from this shop can already get pretty complex, which is why some of its tattoos can have a minimum starting price of $100.

For the most part, we think that it’s still a fair price given the Lilac team’s skill level and portfolio.

You can also take full advantage of the shop’s numerous gift cards, which are pretty great for saving you a lot of money early on.

If you get a chance to book an appointment with the founder herself, Dominique, then you’ll see exactly what we mean by complex and beautifully-made tattoo designs.

When you also start introducing colors into the mix, we think you’ll be quite surprised at just how endless the possibilities are with this tattoo shop.

Colors can add another layer of creativity, and Lilac definitely uses this very well to its advantage.

We also like how each of its tattoo artists carefully explains how to take care of your tattoo after the session is done.

Just keep in mind that this is a significantly busy tattoo shop, and not every staff member would be as welcoming as you would expect every time.

You might also have a chance to run into some delays while getting inked, as its tattoo pens occasionally stop working for some reason.

2. Koneko Studio

Pros

  • Lots of artists with several design specialties
  • Intricate in drawing every line and curve
  • Great at combining black and colored themes
  • Very aesthetic floral tattoos

Cons

  • Some artists charge expensive minimum prices
  • Not that easy to get a schedule
  • Inconsistent performance by some artists

Koneko Studio excels in several different cosmetic services, which include a solid grasp of aesthetic tattooing.

No matter what concept you have come up with, we’re fairly certain it can be done at the hands and tools of Koneko’s tattoo artists.

Looking at its team’s portfolio, we’ve noticed quite a wide variety of styles that can cater to a lot of people’s preferences.

The tattoo works are just about as clean as the shop’s workstations, which is essentially hitting two birds with one stone.

If you were to take a magnifying glass and look at each artist’s creative work, you’ll realize that this isn’t a tattoo shop that tends to just rush jobs.

We’d like to think that, just like any other respectable artist, Koneko’s team members uphold their own works to a very high standard of detail and respect.

If we were to pick something specific as proof of that, then we recommend checking out Linda’s portfolio. We think her floral designs are absolutely stunning to look at.

Just keep in mind that she does charge the highest minimum price ($500) among all of Koneko’s tattoo artists, though.

She mainly focuses on solid blackwork, but you can still get great colored tattoos when you check out the works of the other artists.

One of the downsides of some of the artists, though, is that they’re sometimes inconsistent with their performance depending on what’s requested.

Another con is that it’s not exactly easy to get a schedule with any one of them, as the shop can barely pick up the phone sometimes.

Pros

  • Highly experienced in several unique tattoo styles
  • Impressive portfolio of realism-style tattoos
  • Bends over backward for each customer’s request
  • Very patient in explaining its appointment system

Cons

  • Considerably busy shop that slightly raises prices
  • Occasionally has issues with scheduling appointments

Gold Dust is a female-owned tattoo shop that can simply be described as having a solid reputation and performance all throughout the years.

In a more poetic manner, this is a tattoo shop that’s nothing short of fine artistry that’s indelibly marked on a canvas known as the human skin.

But really, Gold Dust’s entire team is no stranger to artistic creations, whatever the canvas may be. So it would make sense that their skills can translate well to the world of tattoos.

At the helm of Gold Dust is non-other than Char, and we personally think she’s way up there when it comes to top-notch tattoo artists in Dallas.

Regardless of the owner’s gender, this is generally a place that definitely deserves the following it has amassed and more.

The fact that the shop gets busy enough to be forced to increase its prices is both a good case in point and a double-edged sword.

It’s one of the common downsides of basic supply and demand.

But despite that, we think it’s very much worth it when it’s finally your turn to sit at its fine and clean workstation.

Also, Char’s obviously not the only talented one on the team.

You can find that the other tattoo artists are also highly experienced in several unique tattoo styles, and we’re definitely loving their jaw-dropping realism-style ones.

They’re an extremely talented bunch of people, and they bend over backward each time trying to accommodate each customer’s specific request.

While they do occasionally run into some issues with their appointment system, they are still very patient and reassuring during times of inconvenience.

Pros

  • Versatile in endless designs and themes
  • Very comfortable shop to be in
  • Fixes and improves botched jobs
  • Delicate when handling tools

Cons

  • Appointment-setting is sometimes vague
  • Occasionally very slow at replying to inquiries
  • Front desk can be a bit rude during peak hours

Lady Magnolia is a great place to go to if you want to combine a comfortable vintage atmosphere with getting high-quality tattoos.

Right off the bat, the physical appearance of the shop has already passed the vibe check. This is not even including the shop’s impressive portfolio yet.

Not only is it clean, but it’s also filled with a lot of nice and preserved decors that make you feel that you’ve just stumbled upon a time capsule the size of a room.

If you go and check out its tattoo artists’ past works, then it’s quite evident that their painstaking attention to detail speaks volumes of the amount of experience they have.

They are certainly not new to the industry, especially considering they have such versatility in coming up with endless designs and themes.

Even when using the most atrocious of reference photos and drawings by clients, they can still manage to turn them into gorgeous works of art.

And if you happen to have a tattoo that’s been completely botched by another shop, then Lady Magnolia is also an excellent place to give it a second chance.

The shop owner, Bri, is very creative at fixing and improving tattoos, so take this as a sign to book her when you can.

But whether it’s starting with a blank canvas or giving an old tattoo a makeover, we’ve found that all of Lady Magnolia’s tattoo artists are very delicate when handling tools.

The main drawback to the shop’s services is that it can be quite confusing to set an appointment, as details communicated to you can sound pretty vague.

Occasionally, it can even be very slow to communicate anything to you at all.

And while its staff members are generally friendly, the front desk could get a bit rude when you happen to come in during peak hours.

Pros

  • Very artistic in its tattoo ideas
  • One of the best realism tattoo shops
  • Specialized in tattooing dark skin
  • Clean and comfortable working environment

Cons

  • Can sometimes lack availability in slots

Nychelle Elise lives up to its name as a female-owned shop that performs one of the best fine body arts that money can buy in Dallas area.

We quite love the fact that it chooses to refer to tattoos as “fine body art” because it’s pretty much accurate at the hands of its professionals.

In our opinion, tattoos have always been a kind of art. And such art has been created in all sorts of shapes and forms because of the shop’s innate artistic talent.

The creations that it has managed to put out into the world are definitely capable of making statements for the beholder. As for what kind of statements exactly, that’s all up to individual interpretation.

We think Nychelle Elise’s artists themselves are brilliant at expressing their individuality based on their god-tier tattoo portfolio. They’ve made some of the best realism tattoos we’ve ever seen.

We imagine it’s already difficult trying to draw realism-style designs on a piece of paper, but to completely pull that off on somebody’s skin is just next-level talent.

You can also rely on them to deliver the same kind of skill level on darker skin types, as the founder Elise actually specializes in this.

To complement the great talent of its team, the tattoo shop also has an equally great working environment that’s clean and comfortable for everybody.

But alas, it still has a drawback. Due to the popularity of the shop, it can lack availability in slots sometimes.

Nonetheless, patience is key when it comes to great tattoo services like this.
