Dr. Salomon Banare is an award-winning endocrinologist and is currently affiliated with the Dallas Diabetes & Endocrine Center. His works have been featured in several well-known publications, including the Journal of the American Medical Association, New England Journal of Medicine, and Diabetes Care.
He’s also one of the leading endocrinologists in Dallas – which says a lot about the quality of his work.
Patients – present and past – appreciate Dr. Salomon for being a straightforward yet empathetic care provider. He doesn’t beat around the bush when explaining procedures and their possible outcomes.
He’s also quite patient when answering patient questions (in our experience). In fact, we feel like we left his clinic knowing more about endocrinology than we did when we walked in.
His office staff is just as divine as he is in terms of attentiveness, actually.
They made sure we felt comfortable and welcome in the space. We were even offered drinks and some entertaining magazines to busy ourselves with while we waited for our appointment.
Although his clinic is cozy and small, he has separate rooms for procedures and consultations. So, if you’re particular about your privacy – like we are – you shouldn’t have any problems here.
There is an abundance of parking spaces right across the clinic building. This is for all of you who are planning to take your car to your first appointment.
There’s also a bus stop right around the corner. So, if you plan on taking the bus to your appointment, you won’t have a hard time finding the clinic either.

- 20+ years of experience
- Friendly and attentive staff
- Refreshments and entertainment in the waiting room

Based on our findings, most clients love Dr. Howard J. Heller, MD for his careful and attentive services – and we understand why. Since we first stepped into his clinic until the moment that we left, he was kind and generous with the information he was giving out.
With over 20 years of experience in the industry and having treated thousands of clients in the process, we’d expect nothing less but great performance from a veteran in the field.
We appreciate how friendly and supportive the office staff is. They helped us fill out our appointment forms and made sure we were comfortable during our first visit.
In our experience, the majority of office employees wouldn’t have in-depth knowledge about the services their doctors offer. However, this isn’t the case with Dr. Howard’s staff.
On the contrary, everyone seemed to know what each service was for. It impressed us to know that – although it might not be in their job description to know these things – they still took the time to learn everything they could about their office.
If you ever needed a clearer indication of dedication, it’s that right there.
Interested in booking an appointment? You can do that via the Baylor Scott & White website or through Dr. Howard’s landline.
We highly suggest trying the landline first before resorting to the online appointment form. It takes them too long to respond to emails; you have a better chance of booking an earlier appointment if you call their landline.
Pros
- 20+ years of experience
- Friendly and supportive office staff
- Careful and attentive doctor
- Easy appointment booking system (landline)
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- Takes a while to respond to emails

Dr. Maryam Zamanian specializes in metabolic disorders, menopause, thyroid disease, and many other conditions that happen as a result of changing hormone levels in the body. She’s the best person to approach if you’re having issues with your hormones and need an effective solution to relieve your pains.
Her clinic is located in a safe and quiet area, which is great as noise and other distractions can ultimately ruin a patient’s experience. Parking can be a little tricky to find since the spaces out front can fill up really fast.
If you’re driving to your appointment, it’s best to be at least 15 minutes early. That way you’ll have time to peruse the parking lot in search of a place to park.
On the other hand, you can also take the bus and get off at the stop right around the corner. You’ll have to walk a little before reaching the clinic; nevertheless, it’s still a pleasant experience and won’t require too much effort on your part.
Appointments are booked and conducted online most of the time. However, if you prefer to have your first meeting in person (like we did) you’re completely free to visit the clinic on a date that’s appropriate for you.
We should warn you about booking appointments through their landline. Based on our surveys, clients claim that the receptionist can be a little disorganized.
This has led to the clinic losing client information and appointment schedules at multiple points throughout the year. This is an issue that Dr. Maryam truly needs to look into ASAP.
Her clinic accepts most major insurance policies in the city. Remember to call your provider ahead of your appointment to confirm if Dr. Maryam is partnered with their organization.
Pros
- Accepts most major insurance policies
- Specializes in diabetes and hormone level dysfunctions
- Double-board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology
Cons
- Closed three days a week
- Accessibility via their landline needs a little work
- Needs to optimize scheduling system

Dr. Shelby Holt handles over 400 surgeries every year – that’s on top of hundreds of consultations and treatments, too.
If we grouped everyone she’s ever treated in the years she’s been working as an endocrinologist into one area, we’d be replicating Rod Stewart’s Copacabana Beach concert in 1994.
We know – that’s a lot of people!
Dr. Shelby treats various thyroid and parathyroid conditions, including hyperparathyroidism, thyroid cancer, and thyroid nodules. She also teaches aspiring surgeons at UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Department of Surgery.
Those are just some of the many reasons why clients love to work with her.
She’s easy to talk to and explains procedures and treatments thoroughly to her patients. You won’t feel left in the dark about anything that concerns your wellbeing.
That said, booking an appointment with her can be tricky. Her schedule is almost always full of clients, which we take as a sign of her reliability as a care provider,
If you wish to get treatment from her, you’ll have to schedule weeks ahead of our desired date to secure a slot.
Dr. Shelby’s office accepts most major insurance policies. Make sure to call ahead and confirm your eligibility before setting an appointment with the clinic.
Pros
- Experienced surgeon and endocrinologist
- Handles over 400 surgeries every year
- Has experience in teaching complex theories to beginners
- Patient and attentive toward her clients
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- Can be hard to secure an appointment

For parents looking for a specialist in pediatric endocrinology, Dr. Melissa Rebecca Ham is the person you need. She handles hydrocortisone injections for children and is also part of several pediatric research programs, including:
- Cystic Fibrosis Program
- Pediatric Diabetes Program
- Pediatric Endocrinology
She was named D Magazine’s Best Pediatric Specialist (2020) – which is not an award that D Magazine hands out to just anybody.
Dr. Melissa is wonderful with children and – in our experience – knows just how to ease their little troubled minds. She knows how to soothe fears and dry up tears, which is why a lot of parents love her and choose to work with her over other providers.
She’s currently working with Children’s Health; however, she has two other locations in Dallas that you can visit. You can book an appointment at any of these sites via the Children’s Health website or Dr. Melissa’s landline.
Don’t forget to ask about insurance while you’re in the process of setting an appointment. That way you’ll know if you’re eligible for services from Dr. Melissa’s clinic.
Her office is open from Monday to Friday. Although, it would have been nice to at least have one day on the weekend for clinic appointments.
Perhaps it’s something Dr. Melissa can consider adding in the future,
Pros
- Great with children
- Was named Best Pediatric Specialist in 2020
- Has three locations in Dallas
- Accepts most major insurance policies
Cons
- Closed on weekends
