A great spot for an intimate datenight

“The drunken noodle has that initial char flavor thats indicative of a real fire (DELICIOUS). The green curry was alright, and we’ve had better papaya salad elsewhere. Interior decor is beautiful. A great spot for an intimate datenight” – S P R, Google Review

The food is delicious and they cater to vegans and vegetarians.

“This is our favorite Thai restaurant in Dallas because the food is delicious and they cater to vegans and vegetarians. All of their curries are delicious and can be made without fish sauce. My 9 YO loves their pad Thai and my 12 YO loves their Thai basil. The Prik King, spring rolls, tofu skewers are great too! We love this place and eat here at least once a month. Definite hidden gem of Dallas.” – Devika Rao, Google Review

Thai Opal is a charming cafe that feels pared-down yet modern.

Their menu covers all the familiar Thai favorites, but my personal preference is their Tom Kha Noodle Soup. Made with rice noodles, onion, mushrooms, cilantro, and coconut milk, this bowl is rich and delicious—comfort food at its finest.

Just a little FYI, former customers have said that their Pad Thai could be a little bland. But to be honest, this could just be a matter of personal preference.

To wash down your meal, they offer a range of milk teas. You can choose from classic Thai Milk Tea, Dirty Boba, or a sweet pastel pick like Taro or Thai Pink Milk.

As for dessert, the Fried Banana with Ice Cream is a fan favorite—choose from options like green tea, coconut, or vanilla ice cream. But if you prefer Western treats, they have cheesecake and chocolate cake.

  • Over 10 years of experience
  • Known for their Tom Kha Noodle Soup
  • Has a fine lineup of milk teas
  • Offers Fried Banana with Ice Cream
  • Has Western desserts

Cons

The yellow curry is delightful at a level 4 spiciness. The dishware is beautiful, and the chairs were comfy. I only wish there was somewhere to put my purse. Truly, I can’t gush enough about this cozy spot with an unassuming exterior. They have truly given me an unforgettable experience.” — Aneesah Lionheart, Google Review

“Amazing Thai food with a cozy and warm ambiance. I tried their red curry, green curry, garlic vegetable, Panang curry, and papaya salad. Everything came out good, but red curry is the best. K-Pop Ramen offers a fusion of Korean and Japanese flavors. We love its modern K-pop-inspired decor, which is bright and playful.

As for food, you shouldn’t miss their Garlic Miso Soup Ramen, loaded with grilled chicken or pork, bok choy, bean sprouts, green onion, and crispy fried onion. You even get to choose your spice level (from 1 to 5).

Another crowd favorite is their Korean-style wings, offered in Hot & Honey or K-Style flavors that are sticky, saucy, and downright addictive.

Plant-based diners are not left out either. Vegan options are clearly marked on the menu and include things like mandu (dumplings), vegan dry ramen, and vegan soup.

    A must-try for ramen lovers!

“K-Pop Ramen delivers an explosion of bold flavors and comforting richness that leaves you wanting more! I had the Garlic Miso Soup (spice level 4)—a perfect balance of deep umami, garlicky goodness, and a fiery kick that kept things exciting. The egg roll was crispy, golden, and packed with flavor, complementing the meal beautifully. And to top it all off, the Boba Tea was refreshingly smooth, sweet, and the perfect way to cool down. Every bite and sip felt like a little journey to foodie paradise! Highly recommend—this spot is a must-try for ramen lovers!” — Nichelle B., Google Review

Since 2011, Hawkers Asian Street Food has racked up local love with Best of Dallas Awards for Best Chicken and Best Street Food.

Here, expect to find the kind of eats “hawked” on Asian streets, such as their Korean Twice-Fried Wings—crispy, saucy, and almost a big enough serving for two. Another popular choice is the Seoul Hot Chicken Bao, an Asian twist on a chicken sandwich.

My pick is their Soup Dumplings (xiaolongbao). These little parcels are filled with juicy pork and rich bone broth, served with black vinegar and fresh ginger for dipping.

Plus, we love their Happy Hour deals, running Monday through Thursday, from 3 PM to 6 PM. You’ll score half-off baos and beers, $3 off spirits, and $5 select small plates.

      Fantastic Asian fusion restaurant

“A fantastic Asian fusion restaurant with a warm, localized vibe that truly immerses you in the culture. The dishes were flavorful and authentic—Roti Canai was crispy, flaky, and paired perfectly with the curry sauce. The Char Kway Teow was packed with wok hei and bold flavors, while the soup dumplings were juicy and satisfying. The Hong Kong-style Wonton Noodle Soup was also a comforting and flavorful option. Every dish was well-executed, making this spot a must-try while you’re in town.” — Popotatoes, Google Review

Malai Kitchen showcases a different side of Southeast Asian cuisine. Run by husband-and-wife duo Braden and Yasmin Wages, the concept was born from their travels through Thailand and Vietnam.

The restaurant itself is gorgeous without being stuffy. It has custom light fixtures, rustic wood accents, and artwork from both cultures.

If you go on the weekend (from 11 AM to 3 PM), don’t miss their brunch offerings. I absolutely love their Banh Mi French Toast, made with airy banh mi bread, topped with flambeed banana and coconut syrup.

As for drinks, they brew six house-made Asian-style beers in-house, which is a rare treat in DFW. Add in a cocktail list and a curated wine selection, and there’s a perfect pairing no matter what you order.

Unfortunately, some guests have noted that a few dishes were on the salty side.

Loro Asian Smokehouse & Bar was created by James Beard Award winners Chef Tyson Cole and Aaron Franklin in 2018. It combines the smoky, tender meats Texas is famous for with Southeast Asian and Japanese-inspired sauces and sides.

I definitely recommend their Smoked Beef Brisket, which is available only after 4 PM. It comes topped with a chili gastrique and fresh Thai herbs.

Food isn’t the only draw here—their bar program features craft beer, batch cocktails, and boozy slushies. In fact, you could drop by during Happy Hour on weekdays from 2 PM to 6 PM, and you can score $5 house wine, sake, and slushies.

During summer, you should hang out at their spacious patio or beer garden to soak up the Dallas sunshine.

That said, we heard complaints about inconsistent flavors—something to keep in mind.
