Is Dallas bigger than Houston?

This means that, in terms of population size, Houston is indeed larger than Dallas. 

But let’s not stop there. While Houston may have a larger population, Dallas is the fourth-largest metropolitan area in the United States, with a population of over 7.5 million people. 

Houston, on the other hand, is the fifth-largest metropolitan area, with a population of just over 7 million people. This means that while Houston may have a larger city population, Dallas has a larger metropolitan area population. 

Land Area 

According to the United States Census Bureau, the land area of Houston is 669.4 square miles, while Dallas comes in at 385.8 square miles. This means that Houston is almost twice as large in terms of land area than Dallas. 

Population size alone doesn’t necessarily determine which city is bigger. Another important factor to consider is the land area that each city covers. 

It not only affects the physical size of the city but also plays a role in determining its population density and overall development. Houston’s larger land area provides it with more room for growth and development compared to Dallas. 

Additionally, a larger land area can also provide more opportunities for outdoor activities such as parks and nature reserves.

Of course, size is not the only factor that determines the relative merits of each city. Both Dallas and Houston have a lot to offer in terms of culture, entertainment, and employment opportunities.

As someone who has lived in Dallas for several years, I can attest to the fact that the city has a vibrant arts scene, a wide range of restaurants and bars, and plenty of parks and outdoor spaces. 

Additionally, Dallas is home to several major corporations, which makes it a great place to live and work. 

On the other hand, Houston is known for its world-class museums, its diverse and dynamic population, and its thriving energy industry. The city also has a rich history, with many significant events taking place there over the years.
