- Won “Best Doctors in Dallas: Neurology” eleven years in a row
- Current Medical Director of Clinical Research at Neurology Consultants of Dallas
- Supportive and understanding healthcare provider
Cons
- Unfriendly staff
- Long waiting time
- Difficult to schedule appointments
Dr. Duc Tran, MD is a Neurology Specialist with 20+ years of medical experience.
He’s been named “Best Doctors in Dallas: Neurology” by D Magazine for 11 consecutive years (2009 to 2021). On top of that, he’s currently the Medical Director of Clinical Research at Neurology Consultants of Dallas.
His specializations are in General Neurology and Neurophysiology. So, if you or a loved one are experiencing gait abnormalities or tremors, Dr. Tran is your best bet.
Treatment for neurological disorders can be scary. Therefore, it’s important for neurologists to know how to calm a patient’s worries and anxieties, to ensure positive results.
This is why we appreciate the level of attention and support that he provides his patients. He does his best to answer your questions and explains procedures in a way that isn’t hard to understand.
Neutralizing worries seems to be one of his strong suites – which is probably why a lot of his clients prefer his care over others.
While Dr. Tran is amazing, we should warn you that his assistant can be a little difficult to talk to. In our experience, they’re always in a bit of a hurry and rush you to finish the conversation pronto.
Although we understand that being an assistant can be a busy job, the experience made us feel like our concerns were the least of the clinic’s problems. This could be harmful to Dr. Tran’s reputation and business.

Pros
- 10+ years of medical experience
- Won “Best Doctor in Dallas: Neurology” by D Magazine in 2019
- Appeared on Texas Monthly’s Super Doctors list for two years in a row
- Friendly and has great bedside manners
Cons
- Tends to cancel appointments last-minute
Dr. Philip has been practicing for over 10 years. She’s helped hundreds of patients in metro Dallas, which could be why she was named “Best Doctor in Dallas: Neurology” by D Magazine in 2019.
Besides that, she’s also appeared on Texas Monthly’s Super Doctors list for two years in a row: 2019 and 2020.
Her awards and experience are what initially influenced us to include her on our list. However, after assessing her further, we found that there was more to like about Dr. Philip than just her honors.
For instance, she offers both in-office and online consultations, making appointments more convenient for patients to book and attend.
She’s professional in conversations and goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable during sessions. Additionally, she seems to know exactly how to help you work through worries related to treatment and care.
Nevertheless, we don’t appreciate how often she cancels on her clients at the last minute. We’ve received multiple complaints from previous patients about her sending them cancellation texts on the day of a supposed appointment.
While we understand that emergencies are bound to happen, when the incident occurs frequently, it might be more the doctor’s fault than the circumstance.

Pros
- 5+ years of medical experience
- Specializes in movement disorders
- Doesn’t rush through appointments
- Has incredible bedside manners
Cons
- Schedule is almost always full
- Office is only open four days a week
Dr. Elkurd specializes in movement disorders, making him an ideal choice for patients diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, tremors, and dystonia – among others. He’s currently affiliated with Baylor Scott & White Health and has had a little over five years of medical experience.
We find Dr. Elkurd to be incredibly knowledgeable and charming. He knows exactly what to say to make you feel more comfortable and safe.
Furthermore, he doesn’t show any aversion to answering your questions, no matter how many you have. Our time with him was possibly the most un-rushed we felt in terms of medical appointments.
We appreciate the time he put into explaining treatments and procedures to us – and it appears so does many of his previous clients.
In fact, during our interviews, several participants commended his drive to help his patients find solutions to individual issues. It shows just how much he cares about the well-being of his clients – something that isn’t common among many neurologists in the area.
You can see Dr. Elkur from Tuesday to Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. It would have been nice if he had one day on the weekend for clinic services; however, considering how busy he often is, we suppose a three-day respite is deserved.

Pros
- 20+ years of experience
- Specializes in epilepsy and seizures
- Has a long track record of successful treatments
- Has an impressive patient loyalty rating
Cons
- Schedule is often busy
- Office is only open four days a week
Dr. Agostini has been in the medical industry for over 20 years, specializing in epilepsy and seizures. He’s a distinguished professor at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and a practicing neurologist at UTSouthwestern Medical Center.
He’s won several awards over the years, including “Best Doctor” by D Magazine and “Super Doctor” by Texas Monthly. On top of that, Dr. Agostini has published several books and papers that are now being used by many institutions for education and research.
Saying that Dr. Agostini is a genius would be an understatement, but for a lack of a better word, let’s leave it at that. He’s the best person to approach if you or a loved one are suffering from epilepsy or seizures.
Many of his patients find his bedside manners calming and comfortable. He’s also popular for being the most patient of physicians in the industry.
You can ask him absolutely anything you want and he’ll find time to give you useful and appropriate answers. This might be one of the many reasons why his patient loyalty ratings are off the charts.
Getting an appointment with Dr. Agostini can be tricky for two reasons:
- His schedule is always packed
- His clinic is only open from Tuesday to Friday
If you want to book a session with Dr. Agostini, you’ll have to do it as early as possible to secure a slot.

Pros
- 20+ years of medical experience
- Specializes in pediatric neurology
- Helpful and informative staff
- Consistent follow-up after treatments
Cons
- Tough to schedule an appointment
For parents looking for a pediatric neurologist, consider booking an appointment with Dr. Moein. She’s been practicing since 1996 and has treated hundreds of patients over the years.
Based on our assessments, patients love how attentive she is during consultations. She makes sure to explain conditions and treatments to her patients in a way that’s easy to digest.
She’s also quite a good listener, according to some of our survey participants.
In our experience, her office staff are the most charming people we’ve ever met. They make sure that you feel comfortable and safe during your visit.
They’re also quite helpful with questions and concerns, which is important for clinic staff. After all, the last thing a patient wants is to work with people who aren’t well-informed about their place of work.
We appreciate Dr. Moein’s consistency when it comes to follow-ups. However, it would be nice if she gave her patients more flexibility in terms of scheduling.
We received several complaints from previous clients about how Dr. Moein tends to limit her patients to certain hours of the day to book appointments.
While that’s understandably within her rights, it’s not exactly the most convenient position to put your patients in.
