Pros

  • Surgeons have done over 2 million procedures since its release
  • Less invasive bladeless surgery
  • Initial vision exam is free and comprehensive
  • Surgical procedure is fast and painless

Cons

  • Can be really expensive depending on the options
  • Common side effects such as dry eyes and temporary vision blurriness

LasikPlus is a pretty popular provider of Lasik-related services across the US, and that includes Dallas.

It’s been around for the past few decades and with that, it has certainly made quite a reputation for itself.

One of its notable surgeons is Dr. Robert Smith. He’s a board-certified ophthalmologist who happens to specialize in both LASIK and PRK.

Having served as the US Air Force’s surgeon general refractive surgery consultant for 20 years, he knows pretty well how important it is to have a precise vision.

We think you’re definitely in good hands with LasikPlus surgeons like him.

With bladeless technology that opts for lasers instead, the surgical procedures that surgeons like him do are swifter and cause minimal discomfort.

We quite like and welcome this kind of technology, as we know that a lot of people are anxious when they first decide to undergo a Lasik surgery.

The only kind of discomfort you would feel are some common vision side effects that are actually characteristic of any Lasik procedure.

What’s important is that the place that you go to is very good at minimizing these side effects. Based on what we hear from its clients, LasikPlus is able to do just that.

Another thing that we like is that the initial vision exam is free and comprehensive. This saves you a bit of money, as we know that Lasik or any related surgery can get quite expensive.

While the clinic does accept some forms of insurance, it’s best to inquire about that directly with its customer care team. Insurances for Lasik are few and far between because it’s considered elective or optional surgery.

Pros

  • Has been in business for over 30 years
  • Has one of the most advanced sets of equipment in eye surgery
  • Lots of unique LASIK features
  • Runs 2 offices in Irving and McKinney

Cons

  • Waiting times can be long
  • Has a history of some staff giving contradicting information

Tylock-George Eye Care is renowned for being innovative and up-to-date with the latest eye care technology. The technology used for Lasik is part of them.

The clinic has got a lot of unique Lasik features for just about every client preference. But of course, it wouldn’t hurt to ask the staff about your needs first as they seem really transparent about Lasik eligibility and even its disadvantages.

If a business has been around for over 30 years like this clinic has, then it must be doing a lot of things right. We think that’s the case with Tylock-George Eye Care.

With it being the first to procure technology such as Contoura Vision and Wavelight Refractive Suite in Texas, we think there’s a testament to its determination to be the best.

With notable refractive eye surgeons such as Dr. Michael George, new clients can expect to be well-informed about the procedures.

Dr. George uses the most modern equipment in his office’s arsenal. We’re also glad to hear that such equipment is frequently maintained and calibrated up to even higher standards.

We don’t expect anything less from someone who has been the director and head surgeon of Tylock-George for years. It’s also pretty cool that he was the official Lasik surgeon of the Texas Rangers baseball team.

Tylock-George operates in 2 Dallas areas, namely Irving and McKinney.

We can’t really guarantee that you’ll meet Dr. George every time regardless of which office you go to. But that shouldn’t matter because we’ve been hearing good things about the other surgeons as well.

One possible downside that you may encounter is the waiting time. It seems to be a hit or miss, depending on the influx of appointments already set.

The initial waiting seems to be the lengthiest. But once you’re all set to meet the doctor, then things should go a lot more smoothly.

Another thing to be wary about is that some staff have given contradicting information in the past. Though we did notice that its staff members have significantly improved in accuracy in the recent months.

Pros

  • A lot of LASIK options to choose from
  • Operates 3 offices in Dallas
  • Initial eye consultations are free
  • Client’s eye condition is checked very thoroughly during pre-operation

Cons

  • Pre-operation procedure can take a long time
  • Front desk billing can be a little prone to mistakes

LaserCare Eye Center extends its services to three different areas in Dallas: Irving, Southlake, and Plano.

It’s great having more than one office offering the same quality of service. This ensures that you would have other offices to go to just in case one of them runs out of appointment slots.

Just be sure you’re willing to set aside time during the weekdays, as they are actually closed during the weekends.

Dr. Sidney Gicheru, one of the most notable surgeons in LaserCare, is regarded as the #LASIKBOSS within the eye center.

Having Lasik performed on his own eyes as well, it’s quite good to see an eye doctor that has specialized heavily in Lasik since the year 2000 (the same year LaserCare was founded).

We like that he and all the other members double-check your eye condition thoroughly even during pre-operation through various machines and procedures.

So you’ll be assured that your eyes will be well-taken care of by somebody with extensive Lasik knowledge like Dr. Gicheru.

Pair that up with a supporting team that is very intricate to details surrounding your eye condition and you’ve got a really good reason for considering the clinic’s services.

Though we think having so many procedures during pre-op could definitely take up most of your time, we also think it’s worth the wait, especially after the operation.

We also like that initial eye consultations are free, saving you just a bit of the expense that is characteristic of Lasik surgeries. On top of that, there are tons of Lasik options as well.

One improvement that the clinic could make, however, is being more thorough with the billing procedures.

If it manages to do it throughout the whole pre-op process, then it can minimize mistakes when it comes to money as well.

Pros

  • Has a well-known network of Lasik centers across the US
  • Eligibility evaluation for Lasik is free
  • Includes both traditional and more modern Lasik options
  • Has 2 locations in the DFW area

Cons

  • History of some staff members being rude
  • Some services are slightly more expensive than other Lasik centers

The Lasik Vision Institute is a well-known eye center in the US, primarily for its Lasik services.

With two offices located in the DFW area and even more around Texas, it is able to provide Lasik services to people on a bigger scale. It’s quite an impressive reach indeed.

Able to be highly competitive with its own arsenal of modern equipment, Lasik Vision Institute prides itself on its ability to offer various Lasik options that are specifically catered for each individual.

As we know, not everyone’s eyes are exactly the same. So a company offering both traditional and more modern approaches to Lasik is definitely a plus in our book.

Of course, this is only offered to you once you actually pass the eligibility evaluation. The good news is, it’s completely free, as it should be.

Your go-to surgeon in the DFW area is none other than Dr. George Joseph. An ophthalmologist who’s done over 100,000 Lasik procedures, he cannot be accused of lacking credibility.

Having trained with the same physicians that developed the Excimer laser for modern-day Lasik, he’s definitely up there when it comes to Lasik expertise.

We’ve been hearing good things specifically about the clinic’s Contoura option that’s topography-guided. But although it’s one of the more personalized options to really suit your eyes, it’s also pretty expensive.

Generally, we recommend you to be careful in deciding which option to choose. This is so you don’t end up spending a fortune on an option that’s not even necessary for your case.

The only other thing that you should look out for is the staff members upfront. The clinic has had disrespectful staff in the past, specifically in the Dallas office.

Thankfully though, it seems like its customer service has improved quite well more recently. Nonetheless, it’s best to stay vigilant and report mistreatment when it arises.

5. The M Lasik Center

Pros

  • Flapless approach makes the procedure minimally invasive
  • Surgeon is highly skilled in PRK/flapless Lasik
  • Surgeon is easier to talk to compared to other clinics
  • Good post-operation service

Cons

  • Contact number cannot be reached sometimes
  • Slightly more limited Lasik options

The M Lasik Center is the brainchild of Dr. Michael Mazaheri (Dr. M), an ophthalmic surgeon who dedicated 14 years to mastering his craft in advanced PRK/Flapless LASIK.

He believes in unique and tailor-made eye treatments. In this regard, he’s got an impressive display of expertise that allowed his Lasik center to garner more interest from the DFW public.

With his advanced PRK/flapless approach, you’re essentially experiencing a more minimally invasive procedure. This is especially good for people with thinner or irregular corneas.

Another thing that’s definitely worth mentioning is his post-operation service. Even though his Lasik center is a bit smaller compared to others, it does allow him to keep in touch with his clients a lot easier after surgery.

With this, you get a more personal touch to the services you receive as you get to talk to him more often compared to other surgeons of really big eye centers.

Now to the downsides. While Dr. M is highly skilled in flapless Lasik (as backed by his own research), it does make his overall Lasik options a little limited.

Focusing his expertise around no cutting and no flaps, you’ll need to discuss your options with him thoroughly if you would prefer any of his specific Lasik options.

One instance where you would prefer normal Lasik over PRK/flapless is if you’re a busy person that needs your vision to become clear faster.

Another thing that we noticed is that his office sometimes cannot be contacted right away. We nevertheless think this is just a minor issue that he can definitely resolve easily.
