5 Best Animal Hospitals in Dallas Ready for Life’s Unexpected Moments

Service Variety: I checked clinics that handle everything from regular wellness exams and vaccines to urgent treatments. Having many services in one place makes ongoing pet care easier for owners.

Emergency Availability: I looked for hospitals with longer hours, urgent care options, or walk-in support for unexpected pet needs. Fast access matters when pets need help right away.

Low-Stress Handling: I considered how the clinics help pets feel calmer during visits. Hospitals with fear-reducing methods and trained staff stood out.

Diagnostic Equipment: I reviewed clinics with tools like digital X-rays, ultrasounds, and in-house labs. These resources help vets find problems faster and create better treatment plans.

Billing Transparency: I prioritized clinics that explain costs before non-emergency treatments begin. Clear estimates help pet owners plan ahead without surprise charges.

Caring for your pet means more than scheduling the occasional vet visit. Regular dog grooming helps keep them clean and comfortable, while dog daycare gives them a safe place to stay active and socialize.

When it comes to protecting their long-term health, finding the best animal hospitals in Dallas is just as important. I compared trusted local clinics to help you choose the right care for your furry companion.

Let’s keep your pet happy and healthy!

They went above and beyond accommodating me during that time

I have English Bulldogs and have been coming here to North Dallas Veterinary Hospital for some time. I have one who has Leukemia and one who was 12 and she passed away a couple of months ago. They went above and beyond accommodating me during that time. I cannot say enough good things about all the staff there.

It was great peace of mind knowing that he was in the hands of professionals

I loved having my dog and my cat at North Dallas Veterinary Hospital.  My dog is elderly with health issues.  It was great peace of mind knowing that he was in the hands of professionals.  The boarding techs were super sweet.  We were away for 10 days and our animals were happy, healthy and clean when we returned.   We didn’t use the grooming services, but they are also available.   Highly recommended!!!

Address: 12835 Preston Rd.

Contact: 972-910-2890

Hours: Open Daily: 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM

Dallas Animal Urgent Care helps owners handle emergencies with a more affordable option than regular animal ERs. Their services include digital X-rays, ultrasounds, and blood transfusions.

During a visit with a neighbor for their dog’s sudden limp, the ER-trained teams checked the pet quickly and explained the next steps clearly.

I like that the clinic stays open daily until 10:00 PM, and online waitlists make urgent visits feel more manageable. Pets get fast care during stressful times this way.

Then again, costs can climb when extra tests come up. Some owners may want clearer prices before saying yes to added steps during sudden emergencies.

Pros

  • Lower emergency care costs
  • Open daily until 10:00 PM
  • Convenient online waitlist
  • Experienced emergency staff

Cons

  • Changing diagnostic estimates

Thank you for saving my best friend

We were advised to take our senior pup Mollie here, from another animal hospital. They were not only polite, but thorough with explaining the medical procedure, as well as the pricing associated with it. Their doctor reached out prior to surgery, and after, explaining how everything went. I felt so taken care of that I came to leave a review, only to see that they already have a near perfect score with over 1300 reviews. I’m not surprised at all, and I’m happy to leave one more 5 star. Dr. Stepanek was amazing, thank you for saving my best friend.

Positive interactions from the moment we walk in the door

Boh loves the staff at Dallas Animal Urgent Care. It’s less a hospital visit and more a visit with friends for him.

We have had nothing but positive interactions from the moment we walk in the door. From the staff at the front desk to the doctors everyone is professional and courteous.

I could not recommend them anymore.

  • Over 60 years of experience

  • In-house diagnostics
  • Custom lifetime health plans

Cons

Put me at ease in case something went wrong

Highland Park Animal Hospital is fantastic! My cat stayed here for a weekend after visiting the emergency vet. They were recommended to me by the Veterinary Emergency Group and were only a 5-6 minute drive.

The staff was terrific to work with and even sent me photos of her and updates, so I knew everything was under control. They are an animal hospital, and knowing that put me at ease in case something went wrong.

A great experience for your pup

We absolutely love taking our dog to Highland Park Animal Hospital and Dr. Hudson. We have a goldendoodle puppy that we have been taking here since we got him, and he gets SO excited to visit the vet, that speaks wonders to the staff. Across his puppy shots, the staff all recognized our pup and how much he was growing across the few months. Would recommend anyone with a dog or puppy who wants a vet that knows you, your dog and a great experience for your pup – look no further than Highland Park Animal Hospital.

Dallas Veterinary Clinic offers trusted pet care as Texas’s only independent, privately owned practice with AAHA accreditation, Fear Free status, and Cat Friendly status.

Adding to that, the doctors here complete yearly training to build care plans that fit each pet’s needs during every visit.

What I love most is how the clinic follows a “One World, One Health” idea. This looks at both pets and their surroundings closely.

At the same time, gentle methods and calm rooms help nervous pets feel more at ease, while custom plans support long-term wellness.

However, follow-ups after visits may take longer than planned. Some owners may need extra visits when questions need fuller answers.

Will always do what is in the best interest of my dogs

We love Dr Priddy and his entire staff!  As a pet lover that has had dogs with special needs in the past, I have had amazing vets and not so great ones.  Dr Priddy is one of the amazing animal lovers.  My two pups are always happy to see him, and he keeps me informed of any up to date treatments or medications that may benefit them.  He is very up front with cost and nothing is outrageously priced.  I know he will always do what is in the best interest of my dogs, and I trust him implicitly.

Kind, clearly love animals, and are compassionate

I had a horrible experience with my last vet when I had to euthanize my dog in August of 2024, which ended up with my refusing to go back to them. I was referred to DVC by my trainer of many years when I adopted my dog Nellie in January 2025. As of October 2025, I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with them. They are kind, clearly love animals, and are compassionate. We love the DVC team!

5. VEG ER for Pets

veg-er-for-pets

Website:https://www.veg.com/locations/texas/dallas

Address: 4500 North Central Expressway

Contact: 972-544-7311

Hours: Available 24/7

VEG ER for Pets provides round-the-clock emergency care with a 24/7/365 service model, giving pet owners access to help whenever urgent situations arise.

They have an open-door policy that lets owners stay with their pets during exams, tests, and surgery, which I think makes visits feel more supportive. Owners can also call ahead to talk to a vet for urgent assistance.

The Dallas site helps with blood transfers through their dog blood bank. But the clinic also treats unique pets like birds and reptiles, not just cats and dogs.

However, just so you know, emergency visits can feel fast during stressful times. Cost talks may also feel less personal when owners must decide fast during tough moments.

Pros

  • 24/7/365 emergency service
  • Owners stay with pets
  • Exotic pet treatment
  • Direct ER veterinarian access

Cons

  • Fast-paced crisis care
  • Less personal cost discussions

These vets and staff are super compassionate in their care of animals

Our dog Frazier was brought in for poisoning from raisin bread. The staff was excellent in taking care of him and keeping us informed at all times. These vets and staff are super compassionate in their care of animals. I highly recommend the use of the animal hospital.

The best animal hospital I have taken any of my pets to

This ER was hands down the best animal hospital I have taken any of my pets to. As soon as we brought our Coco in, we were greeted, checked in and brought back to triage. Triage is an open concept so you really feel part of your pet’s care. Glad to say, Dr Charney and the nurses diagnosed her and sent her home with the appropriate treatment plan and she’s doing so much better. I have 4 other fur babies and this is the hospital I will trust with their care for any ER visit. Thank you VEG.
