Pros
- Excellent teachers
- Versatile schedules
- Great overall lessons
- Private lessons
Cons
- A bit expensive
Highland Park is one of the best places to learn how to play the guitar in Dallas. It’s highly effective and offers flexible schedules and private lessons.
The students noted the teachers were all strict yet gentle with their teaching. It’s a delicate balance we feel makes for great teaching sessions.
We also love how flexible the schedule is, as it offers courses 24/7. This helps students busy with school, work, or life in general, as they can move around the lessons as they wish.
The lessons themselves are also carefully planned out. The teachers start by gauging how proficient the students already are, so they can move on and skip the beginner lessons.
Lastly, we love the fact that they offer private lessons. Not every student excels in classes with others, so having the option to have lessons in private is an amazing perk.
However, we noticed one glaring downside. The lessons and teachers are all effective, but the price is heftier compared to some of its competitors.
Overall, we highly recommend Highland Park if you want to learn how to play the guitar. It has a proven track record of producing excellent students thanks to the teachers it employs.

Pros
- Experienced teacher
- Great lessons
- Affordable prices
- Group lessons
- Student concerts
Cons
- Tricky to book appointments
If you want a more personalized lesson to cater to your skill level, then we recommend checking out Greg Ray’s in Dallas. The teacher, Greg Ray, is an excellent mentor that tries to get the best out of all his students.
Ray handles and teaches the students by himself, making for more intimate and personal guitar lessons.
And while that may seem like a big task for one, he does a great job planning the lessons. In a group setting, students will naturally learn at different paces, but Ray makes sure to try and accommodate everyone to not leave anyone behind.
We also love how affordable the prices are. They’re budget-friendly and it almost feels like charity work to try and improve the guitar scene in the city.
Additionally, group lessons are a great way to make friends and connections at an early age. Students have bonded learning under Ray — some even mentioned making lifelong friends.
According to the students, the concerts are also a blast to participate in. They’re a great way to culminate all the hard work they put into learning the instrument.
The only downside we saw was how hard it is to book appointments. Ray handles the business himself, so we imagine it’s difficult to accommodate the hundreds of inquiries he gets each week.

Let’s face it, with the emergence of hustle culture, it’s tricky to fit lessons into our weekly schedule. Luckily, RoomFour Guitar Studio offers one of the most versatile schedules in Dallas.
It offers year-round lessons from Monday to Saturday, catering to students, workers, and the like.
The lessons are also excellent. A big proof of this is the number of talented students that have come out of the program.
Of course, these lessons are only effective because of the teachers it has. They are all personable and experienced, as most of them have close to a decade’s worth of experience teaching kids and adults.
And if you’re worried about getting left behind, don’t fret, as the lessons themselves cater to your experience and strength. We talked to one of the teachers, and they mentioned how much they value and factor in an individual’s pace of learning.
The only downside we saw was how expensive the lessons are, especially compared to some of its competitors. But trust us, the reward is definitely worth the price of admission.

Cons
- Busy during peak days
In the realm of six-string sorcery, Jamsville stands as an unparalleled maestro. Our encounter with this symphony of guitar enlightenment left us spellbound and craving more.
At Jamsville, our voyage into the world of strumming commenced with services that could only be described as virtuoso-level guidance.
From the first note, it was evident that Jamsville was no ordinary minstrel; their instructors are the virtuosos, sculpting novices into fretboard wizards.
Our journey was finely tuned, meticulously tailored to our skill level, ensuring each chord resonated with purpose. Their commitment to understanding our musical aspirations was a harmonious echo throughout our lessons.
Convenience danced in every note at Jamsville.

Pros
- Excellent lessons
- Different kinds of lessons
- Relatively cheap
- Group and private lessons
Cons
- Some rude teachers
- Hard to book schedules
If you want your children to learn the guitar while developing interpersonal skills, then Gray School of Music in Dallas is for you. It offers group lessons, making for a fun environment to learn in.
The lessons here are all excellent and the teachers are wonderful in addition to the cheap admission. However, the concept that should invite you in is the way it celebrates the children.
The number of students here means your child will learn in a wonderful environment filled with passion and excitement. Having classmates their age will make for an easier time to absorb each lesson while having fun.
We love how well thought out the lessons are. It accounts for and accommodates each student as they have different learning curves and skill levels while factoring in the difficulty of the instruments.
However, if your child has trouble learning in a group setting, then you might be interested in enrolling them in private lessons, which come at a slightly steeper price.
Besides the guitar, the students can also pick up other instruments such as the piano, ukulele, and drums. It’s always nice having different options!
There are a couple of drawbacks here and there. One of which is that there seem to be some teachers that are hard to work with.
According to one student, the guitar teacher was rude and unprofessional. Granted, the student was in his 20s, but that should still warrant professionalism and respect from anyone.
We also heard that it’s tricky to book an appointment at times. Whether that’s getting charged extra fees or finding the right schedule.
