Pros

  • International tattoo artists
  • Accepts walk-ins and appointments
  • Customized designs

Cons

  • Long waiting time

Dallas Tattoo & Arts Company first opened in 2013 and makes some of the finest tattoos we’ve seen. They have artists from all around working with them and helping clients get the best quality inks in Dallas.

The first thing to note about this studio is that all its designs are unique to the customer. You tell them what you want and they’ll customize everything to fit your specific requirements and preferences.

It’s no wonder why they’ve received multiple awards from the Dallas Awards Program for Best Tattoo Studio in the city.

Based on our interviews, customers love the layout and interior design of the shop. The walls are decorated with works from different tattoo artists across the world.

The rest of the place looks like a classic Texan saloon, making it a great option for those looking for an authentic Dallas experience.

Dallas Tattoo & Arts Company accepts walk-ins and appointments; although, we should warn you that their walk-in lists tend to get very long on most days.

To ensure a spot at the studio, we recommend booking ahead to avoid lines and long waiting times.

You’re required to make a $100 deposit upon booking an appointment. Don’t be late; otherwise, you will lose your deposit, as per studio policy.

Pros

  • 7+ years in business
  • Style variety
  • Fully local staff

Cons

  • Inconsistent price quotes

Another great tattoo studio you should consider is Gold Dust Tattoos & Fine Art. With almost a decade of experience in the industry, they’ve handled enough inking sessions to earn them a spot on this list of best places to get a tattoo.

The whole team is composed of local artists with varying specialization and style preferences. So, you can choose to work with anyone you like, depending on the work you want done.

Besides tattoos, they also have staff that takes care of piercing sessions. If you’ve been meaning to get piercings with your bestie or significant other, this is the place to go.

Not sure who to get for your tattoo sesh? Their artists’ portfolios are available on their website, so you can review that ahead of your visit.

We loved how they combined rustic and contemporary elements for their interior design. It felt like we were in a gallery x cafe hybrid studio.

You can expect complete privacy during your tattoo session, as each artist has a designated tattoo parlor. So, if you don’t like people watching while you get inked, Gold Dust is perfect for you.

Prices are relatively affordable; however, we should warn you about their inconsistent price quotes. In our experience, they give you one quote on the phone and an entirely different one after your session.

While we understand how important it is to give artists autonomy over the way they price their services, this type of inconsistency is what discourages clients from giving you more business.

Pros

  • Laser removal
  • Best Tattoo Artists by Dallas Awards Program
  • 7+ years in business

Cons

  • Expensive

Lamar Street Tattoo Club is known for its award-winning artists who provide clients with great quality inks and designs. They’ve been in business since 2013 and are conveniently located in – yes, you guessed – Lamar Street, Dallas.

They’re a great place to get big and bold statement pieces. So, if you’ve been wanting to get a full-sleeve for some time, you should definitely visit Lamar.

We found their reception to be friendly and attentive. They kept us entertained while we sat in the waiting room, which was designed with beautiful black and red Victorian furniture.

You’ll find the walls covered with artwork from different artists across the world. They also have some cool graffiti sprawled on the floor.

It totally tied together the “renegade” look they were going for.

Laser tattoo removal is also available at this shop, so is a cover-up. If you have an old tattoo that you want removed or redesigned, contact Lamar Street and set up an appointment.

Due to their artists’ experience and expertise, prices can get steep here at Lamar Street. You may contact them via their landline to ask for a quote before getting inked.

Pros

  • 5+ years in business
  • Friday the 13th sale
  • Welcoming staff
  • Budget-friendly

Cons

  • Difficult to make an appointment

Singleton Tattoo is the most wholesome tattoo studio we’ve visited so far. We would’ve mistaken their shop for a sweet little diner, had it not been for the massive bee (which is their logo) marking one of their outer walls.

We went inside expecting to see hardcore grunge decorations. Instead, we were greeted by a lot of greenery, smooth jazz, and the cleanest white walls we’ve seen in a tattoo shop.

There was still the usual framed artwork from different tattoo artists. But these were arranged in the most straight-cut fashion, it really strayed from the typical tattoo parlor aesthetic.

The people there were all so nice and welcoming. All the artists do their best to interact with you and help you find a style that would suit your preferences.

We also didn’t feel at all pressured to work with any of them. They were really just there to help us make a decision.

Prices are relatively affordable compared to most shops. However, if you want to get more bang for your buck, you should watch out for their Friday the 13th events.

You can get discounts during these events and save a lot more in the end.

One thing that we should warn you about Singleton Tattoo is that booking an appointment can be tricky. Their lines always seem to be busy, so it can take a while for your call to go through.

Pros

  • 10+ years in business
  • Best Tattoo Shop in Dallas by Expertise.com (2022)
  • Accepts walk-ins and appointments

Cons

  • $400 deposit
  • Doesn’t reply on time

Dallas Tattoo looks like an old-school tattoo parlor from the outside. The whole building is covered with beautiful red brick.

Inside the walls are a sleek gray decorated with dozens of framed artwork. They have leather seats in the waiting area and a fun little chess board to pass the time.

For us, they are the very picture we see when anyone mentions “tattoo parlor” in conversations.

They’ve been in business for more than 10 years, so we have no doubts that their artists are TOP-NOTCH. But to support the claims of so many of their previous clients, we had to check them out for ourselves.

Here’s what we found:

They have the biggest team of tattoo artists among the shops on this list. They’re also one of the oldest parlors we know.

We noted how welcoming and interactive their staff was from start to finish. We didn’t feel at all intimidated being inside their establishment – which isn’t common when it comes to tattoo parlors.

Everything inside was clean and organized. So, you don’t have to worry about safety during sessions.

We should warn you that getting in touch with anyone on the phone can take FOREVER. So, if you want answers, it may be best to visit the shop in person.

If you decide to get ink done, keep in mind that they require an expensive $400 deposit. This is by far the most expensive deposit fee we’ve seen out of everyone we visited.

Cons

  • Busy during peak days due to popularity

At Mother’s House, we discovered a tattoo shop that combines exceptional services, unbeatable convenience, a stellar reputation, and affordable prices, making it a top choice for ink enthusiasts.

Our experience at Mother’s House was nothing short of extraordinary.

From the moment we stepped through their doors, we were greeted by a team of talented artists who exude professionalism and passion for their craft.

Each artist took the time to understand our vision and translate it into stunning, personalized designs, resulting in ink that surpassed our wildest expectations.

Convenience is key, and Mother’s House understands this perfectly. The shop’s online booking system ensured we could find a time slot that suited our busy lifestyles, eliminating any hassle or unnecessary wait times.

Their commitment to excellence is evident in every aspect of their operation, from the immaculate cleanliness of their facilities to the top-notch sterilization practices they adhere to. We felt safe and confident in their hands.

When it comes to pricing, Mothers House Dallas strikes the perfect balance between quality and affordability. While tattoos are an investment, their competitive rates make it accessible for a wide range of budgets.

Unfortunately, they can get very busy sometimes due to popularity. We recommend booking an appointment ahead of time to avoid delays.
