Pros

  • Nearly 20 years of experience
  • Accessible and convenient services
  • Personnel trained in dog first aid
  • Safe and comfortable environment

Cons

  • Doesn’t accept all dog breeds

Barking Hound Village is a 19-year-old business that first opened in Austin before moving to Dallas in 2005. They are one of the most popular dog boarding facilities in the entire city and for good reason.

The owners are certified dog lovers with a team of same-minded caretakers, so you can rest assured that  your little furbabies are in safe hands.

Besides dog boarding, the facility also offers other pet services, like grooming, bathing, and daycare. Booking an appointment is easy enough – you just need to call them via their landline or leave a message in their email.

You can also fill out an appointment form on their website, which we highly recommend as it’s the most convenient way to reach them.

For pet owners with fur babies who are taking medications, you can leave their prescription and medication with the staff. They’ll make sure your pets don’t miss a single dose while you’re away.

All that said, the facility doesn’t come without its own set of flaws.

After talking to a bunch of their previous clients, we learned that Barking Hound Village isn’t exactly welcoming to all dog breeds. This is especially true for bigger dogs like mastiffs, dobermans, and boxers.

We understand that bigger dogs have a bad reputation for violence and aggression. Yet, being one of the oldest providers in town, we’d expected them to be more forgiving of the stereotype.

If you have a big dog at home, we suggest you try looking for services elsewhere.

Pros

  • Open seven days a week
  • Clean and comfortable facility
  • Limits number of dogs in one playgroup
  • Has caretakers assigned to different groups at all times

Cons

  • Can be difficult to reach

Paw Lofts is another amazing facility for dog parents to consider. It was first established in 2016 and is currently one of the most popular providers in the city.

They have a team of skilled and professionally trained employees to help take care of visiting pets. On top of that, they also have one of the cleanest facilities we’ve seen so far.

One of the things that impressed us the most about this facility is its organization, from playtime to bedtime.

Each pet is assigned to a “play group” where they can interact and have fun with other pets. These groups are limited to 15 pets per group to not overwhelm the animals and their caretakers.

They’re also provided with snacks, water, and toys throughout their entire stay. Fur parents can rest assured that their dogs are well taken care of.

One thing that we did find slightly bothersome was how busy their landline was. It took them over 10 minutes before they could pick up. In that time, a customer could have found another facility to house their dog.

Yet, since our situation wasn’t so urgent, we could wait a little longer than most people.

Pros

  • Open seven days a week
  • Accepts large dog breeds
  • Caring and loving employees

Cons

  • Slots fill up very early
  • Calendar updates are not centralized

If you’re looking for an inclusive dog boarding facility in Dallas, Smart Dog is the one for you. They accept even the largest of dog breeds – which is something that a lot of fur parents have a tricky time finding.

Most boarding facilities avoid taking in large dogs like cane corsos and bullmastiffs. This may be because big dogs are often cataloged as “violent” or “savage.”

With Smart Dog, customers can rest assured that their dogs will be treated equally, regardless of their size and breed.

Besides boarding, Smart Dog also offers other services such as grooming, training, daycare, and many others. Based on our evaluation, customers love how gentle and caring the facility staff is toward the dogs.

You can clearly see how fond they are of dogs through the way they handle feeding, grooming, and playing activities.

If you’re interested in leaving your fur baby here, you want to book an appointment ahead of your visit. The facility is often full and without calling ahead, you might end up wasting your time by going there and ultimately getting declined.

The facility is open from Sunday to Saturday, so if you have somewhere to go on the weekend, this is a great place to leave your pets at.

You may also want to call them instead of booking an appointment online. They don’t exactly have a centralized system for scheduling, so what you see on their website calendar may not always be accurate.

Pros

  • Open seven days a week
  • Can host pet birthday parties
  • Responsive customer support staff

Cons

  • Walk-ins are rarely accommodated due to large influx of clients

Is your dog’s birthday coming up? If so, Dog City is the partner you’re looking for.

They host a variety of parties and events that pet owners hold for their little furry friends. On top of that, they also have services such as grooming, daycare, training, and – of course – boarding.

Based on our evaluations, customers love this provider for its clean amenities and well-organized training methods. The pets that stay here all leave joyful and energetic – which is why many pet owners keep coming back to this place to allow their pets to have fun.

Services are available from Sundays to Saturdays; however, you’ll have to call ahead to set an appointment. Otherwise, you may not get the accommodations you’re looking for.

You can book through their website or social media – you may also call them via their landline. Their customer support staff is quite responsive, in our experience.

So, it shouldn’t take long for you to make a reservation.

Your dogs can enjoy tons of treats and toys at Dog City. They can also run around with a bunch of other pets of all shapes and sizes.

Pros

  • Open seven days a week
  • 20+ years of experience
  • Has had experience with big and small dog breeds

Cons

  • Has received several complaints about animal cruelty

Camp Bow Wow has been around since 2001. They have experience with almost every dog breed you can find in the US – big and small.

So, you can trust they know exactly what they’re doing when it comes to your pet dog.

We appreciate how accessible their facilities are to pet owners like us. We also love how easy it is to book their services; just call them on the phone and they’ll set your appointment up for you.

They have trainers and caretakers that help ensure your pet’s safety and comfort. If you have pets that require specific attention or need to take medication, they also have employees who can do that job.

Unfortunately, not all dog boarding facilities are perfect. We were slightly disappointed by a story that one of our survey participants shared with us.

According to this customer, one of the caretakers hit their dog on the face to stop the dog from “attacking” one of the other dogs.

While this doesn’t mean that all caretakers with Camp Bow Wow are the same, it does push us to wonder how many other employees are like that. Furthermore, what is the facility doing to stop this from happening to other customers?

Pros

  • Variety of services
  • Climate-controlled suites and elevated beds
  • Offers group boarding as well
  • Staff is certified in Pet CPR and First Aid

Cons

The Dallas Dog Palace is a pretty great option for boarding in our opinion.

This was founded by Jennifer, whose love and care for dogs is unparalleled. This is why we would trust our furry best friends with them.

Their services include Luxury Boarding, Grooming, and Daycare.

We love how they’re not kidding with calling their boarding services as luxury because it truly is!

Dogs stay in suites and each suite is climate-controlled and has an elevated bed for maximum comfort.

They also offer group boarding in the House of Commons since they’re well aware that dogs are social creatures too. The room is partitioned for groups depending on size and temperament.

We like how their staff is certified in Pet CPR and First Aid so they can surely be taken care of if anything happens.

Many dog owners trust them and so do we!
